Tulsa sports talk is ate up with Big 12 expansion and OU & OSU leaving the Big 12.

At face value I say yes at first.

Then think about what would likely happen once their in.

First Texas refuses to play OU. That means we lose the game at Jerryworld. SEC offices have never been a friend of the Razorbacks. A&M takes that slot.

Our options become a game in Tulsa against OSU a game in Houston or DFW against Houston or revolving ex SWC foes.

SEC gifts OU and OSU cupcakes in the east we get the tough teams.

The slight recruiting advantage of conference affiliation goes away.

National TV games become harder to get for Arkansas.

The pie is diluted further.

The road gets a lot tougher for non revenue sports.

Maybe wrestling finally happens in the SEC that's a positive for me but a men's sport gets cut.

Neither school have a stellar record of NCAA compliance.

Damnit this is the last time I waste a topic.

I don't know what unspoken thoughts are in the minds of OK or OSU, but the Big 12 is working towards expansion. Those schools pulling out would spell the end of the conference I think.

Oklahoma would strengthen an already tough conference and despite Stoops blathering, I don't think he wants any part of being in the SEC.

I'm apathetic at this point. The SEC seems strange and too big as it is. The 12-team model was perfect.

True.

If it were to expand I'd prefer the Oklahoma schools so we aren't on the outer fringes and we can bring Mizzou over to the west and we'd have some natural border rivals.

The Oklahoma rivalry would get white hot very quickly.

OSU was a pretty decent rivalry we played for quite a long time.

I don't see us pulling any ACC schools with their new TV deal.

It doesn't have a chance of happening with the number of tvs in Oklahoma

Ou and osu being a package deal makes both undesirable.

The real prize is ou, they are solid in several sports, but having to take osu as well negates the whole deal unless osu was replacing mizzou/aggy/Kentucky who was leaving for a different conference.

The truth is likely that neither would want to join the sec unless they felt they had no other choice at remaining a p5 school.

I would take either instead of Missouri. Other than that, he'll no

Tulsa to B12 I would support. Might even head over to a game or two in the future

I'd take KU (alone) just for Basketball. Their football program, when prioritized, has potential as well.
I don't think KU adds much in a manner of dedicated TV markets, but the whole country follows them in Basketball, and it would further weaken the Big XII. Having KU and Kentucky for basketball could be a big deal.

I started a similar thread over on the Mizzou board (knowing I'd probably get killed for bringing it up) asking what's in the best interests of Mizzou, and then separately the best interests of the SEC. LINK

I think if the XII implodes Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas would be highly coveted properties that the SEC should (for multiple reasons) want a piece of, if the idea of a conference network is to make money.

I would like to win a conference championship in football before I die and I'm already 39, so it's getting kind of iffy.

Every time we add a member to the SEC, it moves that SEC Championship trophy further from our grasp.

We'll never be in a conference with Texas again.

they've imploded 2 conferences already. They're poison.

The SEC might be interested in just Oklahoma, but never both.

The less I have to do with the Sooners the better off I am.

None of this can happen but in a perfact world toss Missouri, add ou, unc, uva, and that would take care of the stupidity of Missouri in the east at the same time

I have a feeling there'd be too many cooks in the kitchen if we added OU.
