He's leaving the head coach position at central Michigan. Another name from out of the blue that I hadn't heard from any source before now. Don't know anything about his style, but I trust Bert made a good choice.

I like it!! Leaving a D1 HC job to be the OC at Arkansas, and people say no coach "wants" to come to Arkansas!

Well when you are on the verge of getting fired every year why not punt and try again.

Probably a good hire, we will just have to wait and see. At least he isn't as big as a house, and won't cause elevators to shut down.

Hope this turns into a Robb Smith hire. Much better than Joker or Roper. No melt here

Apparently he is an ace recruiter. Would be nice to pull a top recruit out of MI once or twice a year.

CMU scored 34 points in the 4th quarter of their bowl game to nearly win.

From a Mich State board IRT Enos:

I miss Dan Enos

I know this is beating a dead horse...but I really do. Let me put in full disclosure by saying I love MD and this staff and think they'll be fine...its just Enos seemed to bring a youthful energy that we needed to close on recruits. I'm not going to lie, back when I was 18 years old I'd probably be more enthused to have Enos recruiting me over lots of others on the staff. I feel like you need a guy like that who can kind of bridge the gap between the older coaches and kids.

I wish him nothing but the best at CMU, but he was a closer. Period. If he ever leaves Mount Pleasant, you have to get him back on this staff right away. He owned Detroit for us.

That said, Go Green! Hopefully we get some good news after this weekend.

Just proof we should never try tracking coaching hires ever again.

Looking at his resume I'm starting to like this hire a lot. I think there is way more to it than meets the eye. Michigan State ties tell me he understands big boy football and a recruiting presence up north couldn't hurt anything.

I'm actually glad he's not a household name in the SEC that all the fans on the rant have already heard of. They'll actually have to do their research to flame

I will allow it as long as there are no double reverses in his play book for the red zone.

Yup. Tells me Bert did his homework and didn't just go out and hire a 'name' coach that everyone would expect.

Cautiously optimistic.

Obviously, Bert sees something in the guy so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. But there's really not a lot of tangible evidence that this guy is a successful offensive coordinator. I think I'd be a little less apprehensive if the relatively unknown coach we had hired actually had a reputation/track record for running a good offense.
