Yeah. But you do have access to Bells, dogfish head, and ballast point. Why the hell they get Ballast Point (San Diego) in Florida but not here always blows my mind.
The 30a brewery is no Bueno though. Grayton Pale defines mediocrity.

Yeah. Core is pretty meh. Very aggressive marketing which far surpassss their quality. OBC is the cream of the crop by far. Such quality freaking beer.
I'm kind of a homer. I've known Jesse and his wife for a long time, and it's pretty cool watching him succeed. I'll always be a big fan of any of the Core products.

I think Jesse and the Core guys are great. I probably shouldn't be as harsh about their beer as I am. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's the most aggressively marketed beer in Arkansas, and I don't think its the best. That being said New Belgium's beer isn't as good as Odell... But I know which I'd rather own.

Down in central arkansas, so I bought a sixer of lost 40 APA and a sixer of OB Pinner.

Diamond is the worst in the state.
Saddlebock is bad as well.
For people who actually drink beer in a serious fashion, OBC, lost 40, fossil cove, apple blossom, and then core (some releases) are pretty much it.
I think I'd qualify for your definition of someone who drinks beer in a serious fashion. I'm not a big fan of Diamond, but still think it's better then most in the state that I've tried.
I haven't tried many Arkansas microbreweries, but Lost 40 and Core leave a lot to be desired, imo. The ingredients for these beers seem like they were just thrown in together, without much regard to how well they go together.
The first time I had a Mother's Winter Grind, it was like drinking some Starbucks iced coffee drink, because all I could taste was coffee. I didn't much care for it at first, but then it grew on me. I still think the coffee flavor is too strong and I've had better coffee stouts, but Winter Grind isn't bad.

The 3-tier system can be a bitch my friend.
In my master plan I've got my eye on creating a craft beer distribution company so we'll have a conduit for bring great craft beers to whatever location I end up living, or just here to Arkansas or maybe Texas where the population can sustain such a venture but the beer preferences in Texas is kinda drab.

I visited Lakewood Brewery in Garland this weekend and it was very good. Had a few other good local brews while I was there, but Rahr is the only one I can remember. I'm no expert, but I was quite impressed with what the DFW area has to offer nowadays.

You know the world has changed when football message boards discuss beer like the wine and cheese crowd..

It's a change for the better imo. I do love a high life on the river for sure, but ever since becoming of drinking age, (I was a ridiculous tee-totaler for too long) I always gravitated towards imports and micro-brews that had interesting flavors or ingredients.
Diversity and local is great for our economy.

If I have to drink an old school, American lager from a big brewer, I always go with High Life. It's the only one I consider halfway palatable.
