Way to go, Hogs, on even making it to Omaha considering by the season's midpoint, that thought never crossed most people's minds except for the players & coaches themselves, evidently, who never gave up and battled back & won their way to the CWS. Of course, the players & coaches would have loved to go farther, not to mention the fans, and it's heartbreaking to lose 2 such close games when perhaps if a play or 2 had gone differently, or a couple of mistakes hadn't been made, the outcomes of those games might have been different. But the players hung in & battled until the end, and were never "blown out" of the games, which is a testament to their character, particularly knowing they were not, by any means, the most talented team there.

Not giving up & playing as hard as they can, under the circumstances, is all anyone can ask from players. And for anyone who considers this accomplishment as "mediocre," he could not be more incorrect. Being one of eight teams in the entire nation to make it to Omaha is the polar opposite of mediocrity. ... So congratulations to the Razorbacks on their major accomplishment, and perhaps more importantly, their character as players & as a team. ... Woo Pig!!!

Making the CWS is no easy task and especially when you are coming from way behind from the regular season.

Thanks y'all. ... And yes, CG, that's clearly the point I believe many are trying to get across, at least those are my feelings on the matter. Making it to the CWS was really lagniappe considering how the first half of the season went, and the fact that we weren't expected by the vast majority of fans or sports "experts" to have the talent to get there this year. Arkansas fans shouldn't settle for "mediocrity" from any of our teams, but in seasons which are re-building ones or the level of talent is just not there, to achieve an accomplishment such as this, our fans should be grateful & thankful for the players' & coaches' determination & perseverance which paid off in a big way. There is no reason for belittling, berating, or overly negative criticism. Our players & coaches certainly are not perfect & make mistakes, but under the circumstances, their over achievement & solid characters should be nothing other than commended & congratulated by the fans.

Arkansas Maximized Its Talent
BY AARON FITT

No matter what happened in Omaha, this season was going down as a huge success for Arkansas. Nobody wants to be saddled with the “just happy to be there” label — and certainly the Razorbacks wanted to win badly. But the the inescapable truth is, this team made the very most of its talent and “overachieved” given its very thin pitching staff.

By now the narrative has been well documented — Arkansas started the season just 11-12 before a midweek win against Memphis on March 25 turned everything around. The next day, Arkansas won the opener of its series against Ole Miss, and it did not lose another series all year. The Hogs cobbled together series wins by any means necessary, taking two out of three weekend games time after time. It wasn’t always pretty, but this group of players had special chemistry and excellent leadership, and they lived according to the school’s own marketing logo — they never yielded. Fittingly, they came from behind twice to tie the score in the second half of Monday’s season-ending loss to Miami, but couldn’t get the big hit with men in scoring position late in the game, and couldn’t stop Miami from winning in walk-off fashion in the ninth. But they should be proud of their postseason showing.

“I just appreciate the effort that this team put out this year,” Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said. “We’ve come a long way. And I’m so proud of them, and just continuing to play so hard. You kind of saw a little bit of what we’ve been doing for the last 45 days in today’s game, just grinding and trying to stay in games, trying to find a way to win a game. And we played a lot of close games. These guys, they’re pretty tough mentally, and we never shut it down. And I told them there out in the outfield that you’ll never see me, hopefully, shed a tear when you finish your season in Omaha because I’m so proud of these guys.”

For Arkansas’ charismatic senior leader, Joe Serrano, a career that started with a run to the CWS in 2012 ended with another Omaha trip in '15. The end of the ride was bittersweet for Serrano, as it is for every player whose college career comes to an end. But he struck the right notes when he reflected upon the team’s season.

“I’m going to miss being around such a great group of guys. But us being here at the College World Series, it shows you how much heart and will this team really has,” Serrano said. “It speaks volumes for the University of Arkansas and the coaching staff as to what we could accomplish. We obviously started out with a struggling year, and just to take it up and carry momentum all the way into the postseason — you don’t see many teams do that, and it’s just special to be part of something, especially a team like this that can accomplish so much.”

Great write up. Kids busted their arse to get the opportunity to actually compete for a National Championship.

I will continue to support the hogs and all that are involved with the program.

I'm proud of the way these kids fought back from a tough start and competed till the end.

This was a fun team (if not frustrating at times) to watch and I hate the run is over.
