Bama is the perfect game for Dominique Reed to break out this season.

He's been doing God knows what during the week and his fumble got him in the ol' doghouse.

Our chance to beat Bama is through the air and gashing them deep. His speed gives him a chance to run under balls that Austin may have to just chuck to the outside shoulder down the sideline.

Double moves and post routes to the corners could be what springs him.

Considering we'll need to throw over 40 times to win, it's a possibility

I hope so! He seems like the kind of kid that really beats himself up and it negatively effects him. His body language really shows it too. Playing football you have to have short memory and move on if you make a mistake. I don't think he does that well.

Been thinking this as well. Everyone knows we want to run it. Nick Saban's M.O. is to force a team into doing something they don't want to do.

They will take the run away and make us beat them with the pass. And our passing game is probably stronger than our running game this year.

I wish we'd come out and pass every down until the defense takes that away but I think Bert will want to establish the run game.

Reed won't be able to get off the line against Bama. They will snap him in half 2 yards into his routes. That's what Bama does best.

Yeah, that's always been our problem with our weaker WRs against bama. They could shut down Adams and even Wright, so their speed advantage didn't help them.

Having a healthy Hatcher is more important.

Maybe bama's DBs aren't quite as good this year as in past years, just hoping.

Bama has one Sr. at safety, the other DB's are Sophomore's.

They haven't looked great. Swag put up 421 yds. against Bama

They did just get one of their DBs back who was suspended in the Ole Miss game, but I would much rather try to pass on them than run

This is very true.

This is really the first time in a long time that our strength isn't our bread and butter when it comes to offense, which could bode well for us. To beat Bama, you either have to have a very good spread-to-run motion game (Auburn 2013, Ohio State 2014) or have a very good passing game (Texas A&M 2012, Ole Miss 2014-2016). We're not going to beat Bama with WR bubble screens and end-arounds because their team speed is phenomenal, but we can have success if we roll Austin out, open up play action and throw downfield a bit to soften up run support.

On a side note, Ole Miss fans should be royally pissed at Hugh Freeze because they should have won that game this year, and they lost it simply because he abjectly refused to run the football and derped away a lead by tiring out his defense and putting his offense in a position to fail. Freeze is a lot like Chaney in that he has a good offensive mind and can call a great first half, but both are at the bottom of the list of coaches I'd want calling plays for me when I've got the ball down 4 with two minutes left and 80 yards to go.

I don't know about every down but I agree with you for the most part. I think we are going to have to pass first to establish the run. It normally works the other way better but I think we are going to have a very hard time running on the Dline/LB early if not most of the game.
