What are our DC options...
Rhoads.... smoother transition and solid, proven guy.
Strong.... he's likely out at Texas... does he sit back and enjoy the buyout or take a step back and come home to Arkansas and do what he does best
I'm sure there are more and would love to hear them....
Personally I'd love to see Charlie in Fayetteville but it probably makes TOO MUCH sense for it to happen....
and the "borderline erotic" comment from BB after the Texas bowl may not be forgotten yet....

Holy shite just thinking about the melt from Texass if we hired their HC as our DC made me stop melting for a second.

It'll never happen though. Rhoads is best bet.

Melt back on

Rhoads...with what he has done with the secondary, he needs to stay.

Plus, he is a proven coordinator at Pitt and Auburn

I would assume Rhoads is the leader. He's done a good job with the DBs this year. Strong will probably find another HC job before he thinks about coming to DC here.

Agreed. I'd put him at the top. He at least coaches a position, which would allow us to go hire a full time ST coach, which we desperately need.

I'd also throw out Ellis Johnson's name as well. He did a great job at South Carolina and did fairly well in '13 and '14 when his defense was on he field a ton due to Malzahn's low TOP.

Agreed. I think Strong has had too much success at a HC to take a DC job. He won a Sugar Bowl and won 23 games his last two seasons at Louisville.

He could also use the "I was never accepted" defense that Rich Rod used after Michigan. I think he could probably fall back into a head coaching job at a lower tier P5 job like a Rutgers or NC State.

Strong will be FSU's DC next year. Rhoads will hopefully be ours

Is the writing on the wall that Smith will be done? Honestly I've not been on much recently..

I know we suck arse, but whose defense is it anyway?

Positionaly, I like Seagrest but to me Hargraves isn't doing that well...I can't put my finger on it. He has a name that isn't bringing in name talent...our LBs have been awful...well the whole 11

I like PR though

Spinoff: Does Strong come in with hopes of Berts doom? Next season is brutal if you think this is turning out bad for Bert wait until next year.

If it's Rhodes, then why wait? Does Smith's buyout go down drastically at the end of this year?

LSU can fire their HC after a close loss but we can't fire our DC after one of our worst performances in school (and conference) history?

I don't particularly like either of them, though I'll cut Hargreaves some slack because linebacker is our most shallow position, which was made worse by Greenlaw going down.

Segrest can go. Unlike Hargreaves, he doesn't have the depth or talent excuse. This is the second year in a row where our defensive line has been either overrated or flat out terrible despite being fairly deep (though we're arguably not as deep as last year). In those two years, our pass rush has been completely nonexistent, even against teams like Toledo and Louisiana Tech. Even a guy like Wise who has good measurables just completely disappears for weeks at a time. Also, he has a background in special teams, and ours have been atrocious outside of Toby Baker (I know the ST coaching duties are split up amongst the staff).

He, like Smith, has been been living off of 2014, when he inherited two All-SEC caliber players in Flowers and Philon.

I say get him, and let the chips fall where they may. Competition breeds a better product. Maybe if Bielema knew Strong was ready to take over, he may beak out of some of his lazier tendencies.

Wise might be the most disappointing player on this team... really thought he had a chance to make some noise. Instead I've hardly heard his name called this year.

Hargreaves is like the chicken and egg argument to me. Do we have no decent linebackers for him to work with or is he unable to develop our linebackers to where we need them? I would have thought a couple of these guys would be contributing by now but they look lost when they're out there.

There was somebody here that laughed at the notion of Wise being a 1st round pick...

Hargreaves lost me when the kid flipped to SMU to play RB. Hargreaves was his #1 fan, recruited him for 3 years at both Houston and here and never had a clue the guy wanted to play offense.

Not a fan of Segrest myself.... I have a pretty decent FB background and I don't know why we do so much reading tech with the DL... I would rather see them in attack mode more considering we are weak at LB. Attack gaps and make cutbacks more predictable for the LBs.
All in all it's a bad scheme and that falls on Smith and ultimately Beliema.

I like CBB a lot but I think he needs to make some changes. The true realist, unlike myself probably picked 7 wins. I'm a realist in the sense I know our limits, but losing like that is unacceptable on all levels
