Greenbrier for supper tonight. I realize they're different types of food. But, I'm an entree prey neur bidnessman, and like the bestest and the mostest, for the leastest.

Tell me, both good, preference?

Know nothing about Ropers, and I've never eaten at Hog Pen.

Conway dining scene has gotten somewhat better than it used to thanks to liquor by the glass. Mike's Place is the "nicest" place there that's not a chain. I usually eat at ZaZa's (bonus that it's fairly close to Greenbriar) in the Hendrix College village. Really good pizza, salads and sandwiches with a nice beer selection. There's also a Purple Cow (think 1950s burger/shake diner) right next to it.

If you happen to eat lunch in town, check out Holly's Country Cooking. Freaking fantastic "soul" food restaurant.

David's Burgers is great as well.

Tacos for Life is legit. No booze, though.

Like Fly I know nothing of Ropers. Hog Pen is ok bbq- not bad at all I don't think.

HOLLLLLLYS- omg i miss that place so much.

Pasta Grill is another good one in Conway.

Go to the hole that is Toad Suck Bucks and get you a good steak and an awesomely country, relaxed, broke down but lovable (imo) atmosphere.

Saigon is good Asian.

FYI: Holly's would be on your way out of town (it's off the southernmost exit for Conway, out by Acxiom) if you want lunch on the way out.

Hog Pen has good reviews, so that might be your best bet. I'd love to recommend you some good old country cooking institution, but nothing is coming to mind, really. I only get down there a couple of times a year (despite being born and raised there).

Oh, I think the place mentioned out by Toad Suck is supposed to be awesome. That's a fair piece from Greenbrier, though. Of course, what else do you have to do besides drive over to Toad Suck? You're in freaking Greenbrier.

No but it's a bit out of your way- do you know where toad suck is- it's on past that.

The people who own it are nice and not really too country acting but it's out in the middle of nothing (or very little), has a couple pool tables and shuffleboard. Sometimes there's someone picking a guitar and singing. And I'd say 90% of the time their steaks are fantastic- note I have been there when I wasn't thrilled or those at my table weren't but usually it's really good. If you like your steak medium rare- then say rare or medium rare- never go up there b/c if anything they slightly go over on their temps. They serve beer, etc.

Again, nothing fancy at all but I always have a good time there.

Ropers in Greenbrier

have eaten here a few times. pretty good steaks.

it's kinda like a smaller version of coltons steakhouse, except they have pizza and don't have peanuts.

The original Ropers is in my old stomping grounds. The guy who opened it was part owner in Shotgun Dan's pizza, and he brought all that pizza info to Ropers. I love getting some pizza from there (I think the Opal one is the only one who serves it). They got good regular food as well.

Ropers used to have a great ribeye for sure....

My 5 yr old (at the time) got a burger, took a bite of my steak and ate the whole 16 ounces.

But, buck it up and head to Little Rock for the Butcher Shop... you wont be disappointed...

SHotgun dans is my normal go to place for pizza when in the Rock. Is Ropers just as good for pizza?

Forget what everyone else has said.

Go to the Dollar General and buy a small charcoal grill and a bag of coal. Then hook a left a mile south and see Mr. Darrel Dale Emmit and ask to buy his best cut of goat meat.

On the way off of his property, stop at the broken gate and dig you up a fresh sweet tater.

Then head on down to 65 and cook your food and do a little people watching.

Thank me later

I'm wondering that too- I had never even heard of Ropers but Shitgun Dans is right down the street from where my best friend moved to when I was in 7th grade. When I visited-there or the mall is where we went- place has been around at least since the mid 80s. I always loved their pizza.

Eta- I'm leaving the misspelling
