I know this isn't technically related to razorback football, but I thought it was interesting that this guy has been so good in college. I always wondered why we never recruited him out of high school, I guess because he played at such a small school but still the guy had over 5,000 all purpose yards. We really missed on this one

I remember us passing on him. I remember people questioning why he wasn't offered. well good for him anyways.

Petrino passed on him.

The small school angle is ridiculous considering Junction City plays in the same league as Strong and Strong won the state title Dixon's senior season. Petrino got A.Turner and B.Jones out of Junction City.

Kenneth Dixon is fricking sick. May be the biggest instate loss of my lifetime. Couldn't believe he was from Arkansas when someone first told me.

Petrino and Horton didn't think he was SEC quality and was too small to make it through a season.

Charles Clay was a big miss as well.

I guess that depends on how old you are.
There have been some great players UA missed out on in my lifetime for sure.

It should basically be a rule to let any of these 7A West dudes who don't want to be Hogs go and sign all the booger boys.

The booger boys always wind up crushing it elsewhere while the 7A hype machine dudes basically ALWAYS bust.

Slick Shelley, Both Fraziers etc etc.

Cedric Houston, Deangelo Williams, that one receiver that went to TN, can't think of his name.

Who else?

HUGE loss.

I remember being extremely Nutt didn't land him, and I don't believe he was even offered (Rivals doesn't show an offer). He looked like a special player coming out of high school and completely tore it up at Tulsa playing like 4 different offensive positions from RB to H-back to TE to FB.

Imagine him as an H-Back/TE in Petrino's 2009 and 2010 offenses.

Bret Smith out of Warren. He was an absolute monster in high school, and you could argue that he is an all-time great as far as Arkansas HS football goes.

He had 1,000 seasons in rushing, receiving and passing at Warren, and I remember he hit all three 1,000 yard marks in his senior season when he played QB for a bit.

My point was he went to TN and was a bust. Just like Frazier and Auburn and Frazier and Bama.

He did go to UT to start right?

From his wiki:
quote:

Clay attended Little Rock Central High School where he was ranked as the 13th top overall prospect in the state of Arkansas by Rivals.com his senior season

There were 12 players better?

Pretty sure we never offered if you're referring to Dixon.

I'm almost positive. A lot of people were pissed about it and swore he was probably the best player in the state that year.

Here's how it was written up:

"Personal: Kenneth Dixon ... Son of Kenneth Dixon and Sheila Baker ... Born on Jan. 21, 1994 in El Dorado, Ark. ... Has two siblings: Ashley Dixon and Arrian Easton ... Chose Louisiana Tech over Arkansas State, Arkansas, LSU and Ole Miss ... Recruited by Rob Likens."

But evidently ithe write up is in La Tech's official internet site. I'm guessing that none of the SEC schools made an offer.
