Cinco de Mayo 5/10k here in dfw. McKinney. (The town not the avenue in uptown)

I'm trying to talk the hubs into doing a tough mudder in Austin but that one looks brutal.

Y'all, if I ever become an a-hole about fitness, you have my permission to slap the shite out of me.

I was talking to a friend yesterday, who started running about 2-3 years ago. I was telling her about the app, and joked about how it's good for me since I avoid inclines. Her response? "Yeah, that's a problem for SOME people."

I hope I never lose my sense of humor like that.

yea frick those people. some people just can't help their douchiness from coming out

Ran my fastest mile ever today in 6 min 19 sec

that was the first mile of two back to back, averaged 6:36 per mile for the two miles combined. I think I could get it down to a 6 min mile if I pushed myself for just a mile. need to try that soon. when I run 6 miles on tue/thur I average 7:30 per mile. Again I think I could get that down to about 7 min per mile if I really push myself. really looking forward to pushing myself in the 10k I'm running in May.

WTG!

Possibly the hilliest 5k in town was this weekend through my neighborhood. No way in hell I'm going to run it, but I did stand outside to cheer on the runners. The race started at 8:00 and I'm a little more than halfway along the route (and at the end of the REALLY hard uphill section), so I'm thinking I'll start seeing racers about 8:15 - the lead runner comes sprinting by at 8:08!

He was waaaaaaaaaay ahead of the pack.

44
198 lbs
6'

Not overweight really, just out of shape

Trying to slowly get back into shape mainly for heart health.

Hitting the treadmill about 3 times a week for about 70 minutes at 3 mph, started out faster but my knees didn't like it so I backed off.

welcome man

just go at it slow and easy, one step at a time. you were right to back off once your knees starting hurting. if you feel pain you generally need to stop whatever you're doing.

I'd recommend going with an elliptical trainer or a bicycle machine that would be a form of cardio that would be easy on your knees

I'm enjoying the treadmill time since I can watch netflix while I'm doing it just bought a nice bike and I'm going to try to build up to 2 or 3 20 miles rides a week.

thanks

my workout routine was
quote:

started off a little lighter than what I put below back in October. same weight days, but only running like a mile. slowly built up to being able to do the workout below. the rest was just eating right.

Monday: legs/shoulders
Tuesday: run 6 miles/abs
Wednesday: back/bis
Thursday: run 6 miles/abs
Friday: chest/tris
Saturday: rest
Sunday: run 2 miles / do 50 pull ups, 100 pushups, 150 air squats / run 2 more miles / then do abs

and diet...
quote:

My diet has changed slightly over time, but it's essentially the same. just high lean protein, brown rice, raw vegetables, fruit, and peanut butter. basically just eating healthy. a lifestyle not a diet ftw

right now my diet is:

breakfast: protein shake in 10 oz of skim milk, brown rice cake, multivitamin powder pack, fruits & greens powder mix in 24 oz of water, fish oil and flaxseed pill.

2-3 hour later snack: spinach salad with lowfat dressing, carrots, cup of yogurt, a vitamin C and B12 plus a flaxseed pill, and 24 oz of water

hour before I take my preworkout: brown rice cake with a couple tbls of peanut butter on top, banana, and 24 oz of water

30 min before I workout I take my preworkout stuff

post workout: protein shake in 10 oz of water, brwn rice cake, 1/4 cup of almonds, 24 oz of water mixed with silk amino acids and creatine.

2-3 hours later before bed: cup of brown rice, 1/2 cup of black beans, 10 oz of egg whites, mixed together with about a 1/2 cup of black bean/corn salsa. plus a spinach salad/lowfat dressing, carrots, flaxseed/fishoil, and 24 oz of water

that last meal could change to: a cup of cottage cheese, brown rice chips with hummus, carrots, fishoil/flaxseed, and 24 oz of water

2-3 hours later I take a supplement that helps muscle recovery during sleep and puts me to sleep

thread on the OTB with more info

Gaaaaah. (((Dirtycougarthoughts)

Seriously though freaking awesome job.

Well I have been reduced to doing almost nothing by Dr orders. For 2 weeks anyway. Bursitis in my hip with a possible ligament tear. Will know more Monday. I don't think anything is tore and that is worst case scenario though. If nothing is torn and I still have pain after the two weeks is up then off to the ortho for the shot.

I was invited to train for the spartan in Nashville in Oct and decided to do it. Group of 4. My efffn hip better be good to go BC I REALLY want to do it and already am looking for a trainer.
