not bad, just concerned about the lack of southern connections for recruiting.

I think we dismiss Bert's lack of connections in Texas and the rest of the south has impacted his recruiting.

Long would be an idiot for the second time to not give it to the guy who wants the job...Mike Gundy

The problem that arrises this time around is if he still holds a grudge for being led on last time we had an opening.

The guy is nails at Oklahoma State. He just won his 10th game in a season for the 5th time. He has won 9 or more games in a season 7 times. He has not had a losing season since his first year at OSU.

71 of his current players are from the state of Texas. He and his staff have recruiting ties in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

Is it true he really wants the job or is that just your inclination? Isn't his Alma mater OK st? Would be pleased with a hire like that.

Ironically I'd take Fuente in a heartbeat. He's proven at Tiger High and VT that he's a damn good coach and developer of talent.

He wanted the job the last go round. He thought he had the job the last go round.

Gundy is in a weird situation at OSU and has been since when we were last hiring. Think of it as Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, but replace Jerry with TBoone.

Boone basically talks down on Gundy publicly and behind closed doors. They do not get along and that is well known. Mike considered the Baylor job this season before thinking it was best to stay away. They offered him a shite load of money. He declined because of the entire nature of that program right now.

To answer your question, yes, Mike would leave his alma mater for Arkansas if offered the job, just as he was ready to do the last go round. He currently has one child at the UofA.

I'm ok with the mullet, just worry that he uses this job as his rocking chair and doesn't come in with full passion to win a championship.

Jeff Long allows coaches to put it in cruise control.

I would love to take a chance on a young up and comer, with a contract full of huge incentives.

Its beyond time that these AD's take control of these contracts back from these Agents.

Fuente is a good one. He was great at Memphis and is from Union High School in Tulsa.

Montgomery is a good one too. Tulsa alums were surprised he wasn't in the mix for positions across the country this season. He has quietly put together a nice program there. Problem is, he went 6-7 last season so the sample size is pretty small.

Stan Heath really burned me on hiring a guy with just one good season. Im sure that is understandable to most on this board.

Gundy all day. Wish we'd hired him last time.

I remember his name being thrown around but never that he was that close or wanted it. I didn't follow the coaching search very closely though. Gundy ties to Oklahoma would be great as well.

When it came out that Arkansas had hired someone, the rumor for about an hour was that we had hired Gundy. Then Bert came out of nowhere and here we are.

I'm thoroughly convinced now more than ever that we need to hire an passing-oriented head coach with an offensive background in order to win in the SEC with our recruiting footprint and the limitations of our in-state talent base.

Gundy would be my top choice, provided we could get him.

Chad Morris would bring Texas connections and a dynamic offense.

Mike Norvell at Memphis would be a good option provided he keeps building on his success this year. He's also a UCA grad, so he knows our state.

PJ Fleck would be a solid hire if he keeps rowing that boat. His lack of connections or experience outside of the north and Midwest would be a concern.

I would've said Doc Holliday at Marshall a few years ago, but his age (59) is a negative, and Marshall fell off a cliff this year.

It is fairly well known he is waiting for A&M to open up. If they pass on him than maybe.

Yeah, assuming our job doesn't open until '19 then there is a chance A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss and State all open and hire a new coach before then. They would all be shooting for the same guys as us.
