8-4 (my official) with a shot at 9-3 depending on how AA settles in.
Split the Texas games. Split Florida and LSU. Lose to Ole Miss.
8-4
Having all our tough games at home besides the frogs could make us or it could break us.

You can put me down for 9-3, but won't be surprised if we win 10 games
I don't know where are L's will be but it won't be TCU and it won't be Auburn...

Where does your positivity come from?

1. Dan Enos/ Robb Smith
2. WR Group...The top 6 are all upperclassman and we got some young pups ready to bite
3. Jeremy Sprinkle
4. DLine is nasty
5. LB play should be better and if a true freshman plays then the kid can play...not out of necessity like last season
6. Our top 4 RB's (RWIII, Walker, Whaley, Hammonds) have enough fire power to keep our power run game a threat
7. Paul Rhodes...This guy has been money everywhere he has been as a Defensive Assistant...I think he will improve the backend tremendously.
8. Schedule...I wish OM and Florida were flip-flopped but it sets up nicely...I think we will be unscaithed going into Bama
9. Every team in the West has question marks this year...most notably at QB. At least our QB has been in the system and worked previously under the same coordinator.
10. I don't worry about our OL as much as others

Don't disagree with any of your points but we have started slow the past two seasons. The TCU and A&M games are going to be telling.

We've also been continuing to build the last two seasons...once coming off an 0-8 season and had a new OC and injuries to key personnel last season with no proven playmakers outside of Collins and Henry starting last season...
I get it, but I have a feeling outside of a couple games, every week will be treated like an SEC game with the coaches

I'll play devil's advocate.
Most OC's will look great with an experienced OL, 5th year senior QB, Alex Collins, and Hunter Henry.
Most DC's will look great with Flowers, Philon, and Speight manning the front 7.
These two need to show they can repeat the successful seasons they've had.
Might not matter with an average offensive line and new QB.
Whenever this is said preseason, there's a ~25% chance it's actually true.
Maybe, or maybe Ellis continues to get burned in pass coverage. What's more likely?
We lost one of our greatest RB's of all time and can't say with confidence any of those guys is an Alex Collins or Jonathan Williams. There's great potential there, but for every Alex Collins there's 5 or 6 guys who bust or don't meet expectations.
I thought Jennings was going to be a great DB coach... How much of a difference can he make in one offseason?
Ha
Same can be said most years.
Our verteran OL could hardly get a push early in the year against Toledo. A fresh OL could easily cost us a few early season games.

Fair Enough...but we will have 3 players with a lot of experience on the OL...We've seen what Sprink can do in the pass game...I'll get to RB's on your other points

We had several first time starters last year and these guys weren't here. We were still nasty against the run...The backend coach was known to be a great recruiter but not so much as a technician style coach...we upgraded here and have a lot of experience on the backend

Bert's not known to have "average" offensive lines...we should be fine here...In the college game, unless you have a 1st Round QB on your team, the OC can set up average QB's to be successful. We've seen it happen here

Wise was only behind Bosa in regards to Pro potential last season in the nation and Beanum, hopefully he gets back soon, dominated many RT's. Not to mention you add guys like Agim and Ramsey as pass rushers and you have a good group to go with the space eaters inside...we lost 2 players off a team that was #2 against the run which teams in the SEC will still do
quote:
Maybe, or maybe Ellis continues to get burned in pass coverage. What's more likely?
He will get burned just like other Mike's trying to cover quick receivers...How many times did our white boy receiver do the same against other teams? It's part of the game these days...but he is a Senior and plays very well against the run

Loved both of those guys...But we did it with Collins and Walker last season...Now you have an Elite back in Whaley and a speedster that we haven't had since Marshell left...That's 4 quality backs
quote:
I thought Jennings was going to be a great DB coach... How much of a difference can he make in one offseason?
Again...good recruiter...You can see the difference in the interviews from players and Rhodes has been around the block coaching several high power secondary units...He's all in the details, which you want
quote:
Ha
You have road games at Auburn, State, Mizzou...that's the type of schedule you want. aTm, well we haven't been able to get out of our own way the last 2 seasons. Having your 4 hardest SEC games at home makes a difference and TCU is not the TCU of the last couple of years

Not across the entire SEC West...

They schemed to not let us beat them that way...we put up over 400 yards of offense and an extreme amount of penalties

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we should pray to become bowl eligible.
Our D last year was atrocious and even if they improve mightily then we will be average at best.
There is no way AA can match what BA did last year. Our running backs and OL will probably take a step back.
The WRs are still there but if AA doesn't have the time it won't matter.
Also, HH probably had a lot to do with guys getting open in the slot last year because he commanded double coverage. Sprinkle will be good but he is no HH.
