Concealed carry on campus ladies and gentleman.

I know you liberal ball sacks would be up in arms, but it could undoubtably prevent this type of thing. If the individual is 21 and legal to carry, of course.

Hell, two people were robbed at knife point down on campus 2 weeks ago. The world is changing, and Fayetteville it seems is changing too. Unfortunately.

Raped at gunpoint

Also, guns at college is a retarded idea for impulse control reasons.

Why would someone go get an FBI background check, pay $300, and take an intensive class on defensive handgun use and law if they were going to rape someone with the gun?

Pretty sure they would just buy it illegally... or steal it... or just buy it legally and not get a permit..

FWIW, concealed carry permit holders are about 10x less likely to commit a crime of any kind than non permit holders.

fricking facts...

Well, with concealed weapons allowed on campus the PD can no longer distinguish between people who are legitimately carrying and those who are carrying illegally.

If they stop everybody who's carrying to check then you get them bitching and the NRA protesting on campus.

Students with guns can also use them to intimidate other students or professors.

You're far more likely to have students killed due to accidents with firearms associated with drinking than you are to actually decrease the crime rate significantly enough to compensate for the increased risk of substantial injury or death.

That's what you're missing... It's the accidental dangers of having more guns outweigh the benefits (which in many cases are negligible)

Its not legal to drink and carry, so there goes that notion. Carrying is a choice, and a responsibility. Those who do it know the responsibility that they are entrusted with.

I have never, ever, heard of a student bullying a professor with a firearm he was legally carrying. It has never happened, and statistically you are much more likely to win the lottery than ever witness such a thing

I deal with campus police all the time, they buy a large number of firearms from a shop I help out at here locally. They are clowns.

The key to concealed carry is no one knows you are carrying. I could carry every day and no one, police or student, would ever have any idea. Until the need to defend myself or someone else presented itself. Hopefully that never happens, but, if it did I would much rather be prepared.... versus flipping a classroom table over or scrambling for an exit as a moving target.

And how many campuses allow students to carry?

The problem isn't what perfectly responsible law abiding adults do. Those people don't fricking exist. It's what COLLEGE students would do.

How would the PD know who's carrying to stop them? It's CONCEALED carry

Your idea of concealment and actually having it concealed are two different things.

Not many people have tailored clothing that hides where they put their guns. Purses or Backpacks.. sure.. but that increases your risk.

I'm all for concealed carry. I have my own license. I grew up in a gun store.

I just don't think a college campus is a good place for it.. or other schools for that matter. Your risk of accidental discharge injuring/killing people is a frickton higher than the likelihood of anything being prevented. We should also be honest. The people who push the hardest for this sort of thing are exactly the kind of people you don't want walking around with a concealed weapon

Meh, I carry IWB in shorts and a fitted golf shirt without printing. All it takes is a single stack handgun and a high quality holster.

So you're saying the rape victims wouldn't have been raped if they had guns?

I assure you, there are more people carrying than would be allowed.

The only thing legalizing CC does is allows people that follow the law to arm themselves. People that disregard the law are going to carry anyway.

Thats exactly what I am saying. I would not think it highly likely for a rape to continue once a gun is pointed in the perps face, or a few rounds of 9mm are in their gut.

The deterrence alone is worth a look

Every rape reported has occurred in the victim's home or dorm with a person they knew, it's not like they're getting assaulted in alley ways by strangers.
