An interesting fact I just discovered through a little research.

If Bielema wins this upcoming Bowl, it will be the first time in Arkansas football history that we've won two Bowl games in consecutive years. I know that sounds impossible, but it's a real stat.

Although, we HAVE won our previous two Bowl appearances, they were not in consecutive years. It's also worth noting that winning two Bowls in a row even on non-consecutive years is something our program has only achieved once before, with Broyles' last Bowl in '75, and Holtz's first Bowl in '77. This could be the first time we ever win two back-to-back and three in a row.

So who are our likely opponents? I'm reading Texas Tech, Duke, Louisville, or the winner of Kansas State/West Virginia. Do we like our chances against any of those (except Texas Tech, obviously)? I think Tech is the only team of those mentioned that has a competent QB. Correct me if I'm wrong about that.

No, shite. I should have just kept my mouth shut until we won

After further digging, I've discovered we're the ONLY team in the SEC to have earned this distinction. In fact, every other team in the conference has achieved it within the past ten years, including Kentucky and Vanderbilt. I'm really only bringing it up to put in perspective that an 8–5 year with a Bowl win really would be a successful year, considering the expectations we had coming into the season and the ensuing rollercoaster. It'll be an improvement over last year's win total, and will speak to maintaining a little stability in the program - something we've generally lacked since joining the conference.

I know we were all pissed at him early on in the year (rightfully so), but we really need Bielema to stay at least five years no matter what, just to see what we're really working with. Going to and winning Bowl games with some measure of frequency isn't an unreasonable expectation, given the quality of our program (in every area except on-the-field results), and this month will show a possibility to start bucking our horrible trend.

There is a 100% chance we lose this bowl game

We're consistently paired up against stronger teams due to the strength of the fanbase and the fact we can't stop ourselves from buying bowl tickets and partying with the team like crazy. Hence the shitty bowl record.

I've decided that I want a Texas Tech rematch, we'd frick their mothers up this go-round.

Mississippi State winning four in a row against us has made me hopeful that shitty teams can break trends with the right coaching and QB in place. Do we have both this year? I feel exceptionally good about beating either Kansas State or Duke, and Louisville is oddly horrible for a Petrino coached team. In six seasons at Louisville, this is the first time he's ever failed to win nine games.

We're nowhere near the same team we were when they played us earlier. Last year, we were talking about how we'd have liked another shot at Auburn with our year-end team. Well, we might get a wish like that this year if the Bowl matchups fall the right way.

Nonetheless, their offense is still very dangerous to our porous LB play. I'd like to think we could beat them this time, but I don't know if we'd win so greatly that we'd be fricking their mothers. I would be all for the rematch, even though they'd be our riskiest Bowl matchup.

Rumors from media members are that the PTB at the UofA prefer the Belk Bowl.

Cant imagine a great number of fans traveling for it, and the time/date of the game is terrible.

I just looked at airline costs.. OUCH!

Beautiful town though.

I still imagine it will be Liberty/Music City.. could be wrong, remember one other time it happened.

I'd also like another shot at Texas Tech. Even if our defense hasn't improved any, our offense has and it was a big part of the problem against TTech. I know we don't match up well, but I still think we'd beat them.

I have no interest in playing Louisville or Kansas State. We just played Kansas State and I'd rather leave the Petrino mess in the past.

This is why Arkansas fans can't have nice things.

Why in the world prefer Charlotte and the Belk Bowl over Nashville and the Music City, or even the Liberty in Memphis.

All those fans that feel alienated for losing LR games, should jump at the chance to see the Hogs in Memphis. They should be politickin' for that bowl.

We don't recruit the Carolinas much under Bielema, which we should...

We should recruit nationally actually. Lord knows we don't have the population and athlete base to compete with home grown and regional talent alone, especially when we've had trouble holding onto the top recruits in the state.

People are going to fall so in love with Agim. I'm rooting for that kid awfully hard.

lol, yeah... I know, we wouldn't take 15 thou fans to Charlotte, and in that huge stadium it would look horrendous.

airfare alone was extremely high. For me anyways.

Could the preference for Belk be about getting a desirable matchup? Belk may be the only way to get an ACC team if someone higher in Nashville's unofficial pecking order, like a Tenn perhaps, is locked into the Music City?

Long sort of alluded to this on Bo's show yesterday, when Bo asked him if he talked to the commissioner and/or would object to playing Louisville or Wisconsin in a bowl game.

He sidestepped it to a small degree and basically said he wouldn't object to it but that he'd be against one of those matchups on a personal level, and you can probably guess which one.

Maybe offensively, but our pass defense is as big of a mess now as it was when we played them earlier this year.

We allowed 50+ points twice in our last 4 games, and Swag Kelly and Dak passed for nearly 900 combined yards on us.

I hate saying this, but I'm praying we don't get Tech. Tech is the worst possible matchup for us defensively.

Lol

They don't jump at the one LR game per year
