According to JL, Bert not on hot seat

So, is Bielema on — or approaching — the hot seat?

Absolutely not, according to his boss. And this wasn’t one of those soft denials that some athletic directors respond with to these questions; Long was emphatic.

“Bret is the leader of our program,” Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long told SEC Country during an interview this week at SEC spring meetings. “The leader is more than just winning games — and I know some fans don’t wanna hear that. Trust me, it doesn’t mean we aren’t competing with every fiber of our being to win in the toughest conference and the toughest division of that conference. But when you look at what Bret’s doing, we’re building a program that’s built on an outstanding foundation.”

For his part, Bielema said he does not feel like he’s under pressure entering 2017. “I understand why people would think that,” Bielema said, “but I think our program is in a place where we’re extremely healthy.”

Due to the buyout we can't even think about firing him until after 2018, so why say anything other than what Long said?

That's fine, just don't be surprised when people stop showing up to watch what a great foundation is being built

I understand Long can't say he's on the hotseat. However, quotes like the one below should never be said under any circumstances.

The Texas A&M AD sure did, and he was talking about firing a coach for having seasons that equal the best one Bert has had at Arkansas. The coach who he publicly put on the hot seat is also 4-0 against lardo.

A&M AD didn't hire Sumlin. He wants his own HC.

Pretty much this, it is just going to be worse for him saying he is on the hot seat and doing nothing regardless after the season is over.

While this is true, I don't like that he said it in this context either

Yeah, but he would have likely hired someone exactly like Sumlin if he was conducting his own coaching search. Sumlin isn't even that bad, he's just not great. He flatly said that a coach with an 8-win basement over five years is not doing a good job.

I WILL GIVE bert this

it just feels different.; i understand what they mean by foundation. like, we are set at QB for the next 6 years basically. we don't depend on freshman to come in and do shite for us we have someone in the pgoram step up. alex collins goes to the nfl next up is 2nd in the sec in rushing yards.

i honestly believe one day all the shite will click and we will get there. it might take a while but it will happen

I think he is slowly building something good. He is making staff changes on defense that were needed, and replacing them with something better. Only weak link on the staff that I see is Anderson, and if we don't see drastic improvement in that unit he will be gone.

Sometimes we forget than a solid foundation that takes a little longer to build is much better in the long run than the stick house Petrino built.

What have Walker and Scott done in their previous job history to suggest that they are any better than the previous guys? I disliked the previous guys myself, but those new hires, based on their previous job history, seem very lackluster. Even the Anderson hire was the same way.

Walker - Assistant on LSU's 03 National Championship team, Coached two pro bowl selections with the Falcons, and of course he learned from the best Nick Satan, which gives me some hope.

Scott, I will give you, he isn't as proven, but he can't be any worse than his predecessor.
