I'm not going to speak for him but it is hard to almost not take some people literally on this site at times. I get unfortunately surprised by posters all the time. That being said, I use hyperbole quite a bit as well.

Word going around that we are taking a look at this guy, Makol Mawien. Former top 150 player according to Scouts in 2015. Signed with Utah. Doesn't look like he ever played. 6'9" 220 with handles, speed, and shoot the rock. I think he would have 3 to play 3. So, he could be a good backup to Gafford or someone Gafford could somewhat backup to his first year. Either way looks like he would great late pickup if we were to get offer/get him.

Hogs officially offer Zhaire Smith after his unofficial to the UGA game, will likely commit soon and round out our 2017 basketball class.
If he does commit, it means at least 1 player will be leaving, as we are out of scholarships currently. Hazen would be my guess.
6'5" 180 SF out of Garland, TX, 89 3 star and 198 overall.
Scouting Report says he is the bounciest player in the 2017 class, very much like Qualls. Dude can elevate and throws down vicious dunks.
The dunk at about 20 secs is just filthy

He was a 4* on the composite just a few days ago. I wonder what changed?
Oh yeah...

Basketball recruiting rankings are pointless, even with all the exposure of the players from aau to hs ball, the sites continually misevaluate players. Most times they base their rankings on players developing into a role they are unable to fill on the hs level against largely inferior talent they face, this is why Madden was ranked so highly, they projected him to be a tall true pg, instead of the small sg he only had the skill set to do.
They projected mickelson to develop into a solid back to the basket player, something he couldn't do with a foot of height over the defense in high school.
The only players they normally evaluate correctly are the ones who they piggy back their evals from the McDonald's all American game...

I've been following him for a few weeks and he was always an 89 3 star so not sure there.

Mike indicates again today that he may still take a 4th for the 2017 class. Wonder if Smith is the only one he's looking at.

He mentioned a PG, scorer or big as possibilities so no.

We are one of the teams in the running for Marquette grad transfer PG Duane Wilson. Averaged 12ppg and started until this year where his PT got cut in half for some reason, was apparently a team captain too. A true PG and leader we could really use.
A&M, UGA, UVA, GT also on his list.

I'm always leery of Rothstein transfer rumor tweets. His track record last year was terrible.
Terrell Allen, Tre'Shaun Fletcher and Nigel Goss with none visiting.

Eh, I like Jon personally.
Sometimes kids only take one visit and choose that place and never visit the others.
Hopefully that isn't the case here as he is visiting A&M this weekend for his first visit.

Playing time might have been cut due to the fact that the kid can't shoot and had a nearly 1:1 assist to turnover ratio?

He shoots better than Barford with a better assist to turnover ratio?
Doesn't matter now anyways, he announced he's going to A&M today.

Barford isn't a true pg, and the other fella shot worse.
Posted on 3/28/17 at 9:27 pm to cubsfan5150
Exactly, that's why he had a half a game worse assist:turnover ratio.
Barford shot a lot worse as well.

FG %: 44%-43% - gap of 1% in favor of Barford
3FG %: 35%-26% - gap of 9% in favor of Wilson
That's 39%-35% from the field in favor of...Wilson.
One is a true PG, one is a SG playing PG. The SG should be the better outside shooter as PG's typically aren't.
This is why Barford was on zero draft boards despite wanting to be a one and done. You can be a PG in the pros and not have a good 3pt shot...many do. But he isn't a natural/true PG as you alluded to earlier and this is why he has a terrible 1:1 assist:turnover ratio.
On the flip side, you sure as hell can't be a 2 in the NBA and have a terrible outside shot.
So he has to make a commitment to either becoming a true PG this offseason, or bust his arse working on his outside shot. It can't get much worse at least, he was one of the worst 3 point shooters among any starting guard in the entire SEC.

I'm just putting all of these names in one thread since there are a lot of names popping up recently
1. The Lawson twins. - Everyone knows about them
2. Michael Weathers - Was a freshman PG at Miami(Ohio) last season. Averaged 16.7 pts, 4.8 asts, 4.2 rebs, & 1.9 stls. Also, has a twin brother (Marcus Weathers 6'7" SF) who is transferring as well. They're from Kansas originally and want to get closer to home. Hometown is 3 hours from Fayetteville. They want to play on the same team if possible but are open to going to separate schools.
3. Chris Darrington - Juco PG. #2 Juco nationally ranked PG, #13 overall juco, 2 to play 2. The kid can fill it up and has good handles.
4. Amauri Hardy - Former Ok St. commit. Lefty PG with good handles and decent shot. 6'1", Very rugged, thick, and tough. I like his game.
5. Shakwon Barrett - 6'3" CG with good handles and decent shot at least from highlights. Supposedly visiting next week.
6. Shakur Daniel - PG at Southwest Christian Academy. Teammate to Mladen Armus and Gabe Osabuohien
7. Mladen Armus - 6'9" PF/C big guy. Project player. Could be a servicable backup to Gafford and Perry by '18.
8. Gabe Osabuohien - 6'7 SF. Supposedly very underrated and very under recruited. I've not watched any video or anything.
9. Markel Crawford - grad transfer from Memphis. Was team's 3rd leading scorer at 12.8 ppg. 6'5" SG/SF. Discussion on memphis board says he is Arkansas bound, but taking it with a grain of salt at the moment.

Apparently, Gabe Osabuohien and Shakwon Barrett are childhood best friends as they are both Toronto originally. They'll both be visiting The Hill next week
