There is some new about the Arkansas secondary. Coley said they are built for action. He points to a slimmed look to a lot of the defense.
“I'm lighter,” he said. “Other guys are lighter. I got too heavy. I came here at 170. I had gotten to 217 at the end of the summer. It was too big. I came to camp at 210. I'm 207 now. I'm so much faster.”
There are others into the smaller is better theme. Linebacker Khalia Hackett, cross trained at all three spots, has lost from 240 to 225.
“I can move now,” Hackett said. “I was 225 today before practice and that's my weight.”
There is method to the weight loss.
“It's about playing against the spread teams,” Hackett said. “We have to be able to handle the tempo teams. Everyone had to make an adjustment. It's what we struggled against last year.”
Smith didn't want to give away the wrinkles, but said it's more than just lighter in some positions.
“We have some things that I don't want to talk about,” he said. “But we looked at the things that gave us problems. I will say that in pass situations, we are going with four pass rushers. We are going to get our best guys for pressure on the field.”
For instance, there could be situations where the Hogs go with a front four of Deatrich Wise, Jeremiah Ledbetter, McTelvin “Sosa” Agim and Randy Ramsey.
“We've got a niche for Sosa,” Smith said. “We have more ability to change personnel. We have more linebackers. When we are going with two inside linebackers, it could be Brooks Ellis, Dre Greenlaw, Scotta Harris, Khalia Hackett and Dwayne Eugene. We've got numbers at corner and safety.”

That's the most promising thing I've read all off-season.

I didn't realize that we have the most players on the senior bowl watch list in the SEC. May not mean all that much, but still nice to have quite a bit of experience.

I'm glad they're actively trying to fix the problem
Can't wait to see the Rhoades wrinkles mixed with Smiths defense

Having Rhodes on staff could be a big plus game planning for TCU.

Gragg doesn't really surprise me. I had psychology with him last semester and after four weeks of not seeing him in lecture he shows up late to the first test with no pencil or scantron.
Outside of injury reports, this is the most disappointing thing I've read this summer and I don't even know what a scantron is, or it would probably be even more disappointing.
I thought CBB made the players attend class or they got put in time out or something?

Injury report
Wide receiver Dominique Reed and cornerback D.J. Dean both returned to practice Tuesday, but they still aren’t fully participating. Things look good for both seniors to play in the season opener against Louisiana Tech. Receiver Keon Hatcher, tight end Anthony Antwine and running back Devwah Whaley had been practicing in green, no-contact jerseys, but Bielema said that all three are back in red jerseys as of today. True freshman T.J. Hammonds, who had knee surgery after suffering a minor injury in the first scrimmage Aug. 13, also was back practicing Tuesday, Bielema said. In the immediate aftermath of the injury, Bielema had talked like the Little Rock product would redshirt, but he’s backed off of that.

What we learned
Bielema said he will announce 2016 team captains Thursday. Bielema confirmed that redshirt freshman Ty Storey is officially the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart, with true freshman Cole Kelley third. The tight end situation behind Jeremy Sprinkle is still working itself out, but redshirt freshmen Cheyenne O’Grady and Will Gragg are both working with the scout team. Bielema said true freshman Grayson Gunter will not redshirt this season and is above O’Grady and Gragg on the depth chart, something that is quite surprising. Right now, the depth chart at tight end looks like this: Sprinkle, Cantrell, Anthony Antwine, Jack Kraus then Gunter. The following players were floated by Bielema as possible kickoff returners: Reed, redshirt freshman WR Deon Stewart, true freshman WR Jordan Jones, senior WR Drew Morgan, junior WR Jared Cornelius, junior CB Henre’ Toliver and true freshman RBs Devwah Whaley and T.J. Hammonds. So still a lot to settle back there. Bielema confirmed that the first-team offensive line — as of now — remains LT Dan Skipper, LG Hjalte Froholdt, C Frank Ragnow, RG Jake Raulerson, RT Colton Jackson. But he also said that Jalen Merrick and Brian Wallace could still factor in at right tackle. One other interesting lineman Bielema mentioned is sophomore walk-on Jake Hall, a Springdale product. “He’s done a really nice job in there and is knocking on the door for playing time,” Bielema said of Hall. Still no update on the status of junior college transfer defensive end Michael Taylor, who was a late signee in the 2016 recruiting class but has yet to make it to campus. He has until Friday to enroll in classes before it’s too late. “It’s in the final stages,” Bielema said of Taylor. “We need to have him here by Friday and I think it’s gonna happen. We’re waiting. I will put out an announcement on that one when we get the final stamp of approval, but there’s still paperwork coming through our end, his end and the NCAA.”

It would be nice if Gragg and O'Grady would finally wake up and put their noses in the play books.

I'm afraid to ask, but has anyone heard anything about the kickers lately? Have a feeling they may be the difference in 2 or 3 games this year.

Not hearing anything about kickers is a good thing...seriously.

He talked about the kickers today. He said Hedlund was the #1 kicker and has only missed two all camp. I call BS on that but we'll find out soon enough.
He also said that McFain, who was out last year with injury but was the 2014 kickoff specialist, is back and will be the kick off guy this year. He said he kicked three kickoffs on Saturday in practice and the shortest one was 8 yards deep in the endzone.

good news about the McFain's kickoffs and that should put to rest the BS about us kicking short on purpose.

Thank god USADA doesn't test NCAA athletes.
