Maybe so. I think he's scared back there, though, which is (just) one reason he's so quick to bail out and throw the ball away. Ironic, because that's supposedly what held back Barnett. I am also reminded of a recent Auburn qb that had the size and the tools, but on the field he never got better.

Johnson was also not the man until his Junior year, having 2 years to watch, learn, develop and mature physically and mentally. Being a true freshman is not an excuse it's simply where he is at this stage.

We can't covera gangly white boy receiver.

Dude we couldn't cover any of their receivers. They had 4 receivers with 90+ receiving yards. They were much more physical than our DBs...and with a QB who knew how to get the ball to 'em...think that was the biggest reason we lost...

Our best pass was thrown by our damn receiver.

Dunno, Hurts' throws to Howard and his 3rd down throw on our last drive were pretty good.

Our offensive woes weren't all on Hurts. Our receivers also had some drops...and our OL hurt us with penalties. Hurts has lots of room for improvement in passing, but he pretty much did exactly what he was asked to do...no turnovers, no sacks, don't take any risks/force anything. If I just looked at Hurts stats alone (60 yards rushing, 130 yards passing, 2 TDs, no turnovers, no sacks) and combine that with us being +2 in turnover margin, I would've thought we'd won that game comfortably...

I still don't think hurts regressed. He played the best three defenses the last three games. There is obviously correlation between his last three performances and the heightened competition.

Also, its clear we changed our offensive strategy down the stretch. For one thing we didnt see many jet sweeps during the playoff. I know our fanbase hates those plays but I think those plays created more room for guys like Harris and Jacobs in the running game.

Yeah, I was surprised by that as well. I kept watching and they did the best job blocking him of any team all year. He was close a few times, but just couldn't get there in time.

Ok.

Everytime we lose to the eventual national champion we come back the next year and win it all. ('08 UF, '10 AU, '14 OSU).

Only time we didn't do that was 2007-2008 when we lost to LSU, but even then we came pretty damn close with a team who somewhat overachieved.

You're witnessing the greatest era in Alabama football history. We lost a game. Move on.

Go back and watch his pocket presence in the USC game. He regressed in that regard. I think a lot of it had to do with the offense evolving into a lot of option plays, and rollout pass plays. He wasn't forced to sit in the pocket much and work on getting comfortable.

I take solace in the fact that our team won't be in DC giving Trump an Alabama jersey, but then again we never when it all when a republican is in office, so it might be a long 4 years.

We lost, going through the what ifs today while sipping on some scotch.

I will recover tomorrow and on to life. Wifey is looking at me strange when I tell her "on 3rd and long in the 1st half , why didn't we throw deep , int is like a punt t (sad when I kick my leg up ).

Watching confirmation stuff helps, boring AF.

Age is a motherfricker, I know. Nick is like Phil jackson (Laker fan) he gets the best talent, but will get out coached in a heart beat.

We win the most timeouts saved championship though

14-1 with a true freshman QB.

Lost NCG by 3 points, 1 second, 1 play.

Things could be much worse.

Alabama FB is still THE standard of excellence.

Eveyone else would love to have such a machine.

Bama beat six teams that finished ranked in the final AP Top 25 poll, including #3 and #4.

I wasn't expecting a National Championship coming into the season. When Bama started a true freshman QB, I wasn't expecting a playoff appearance.
To go 14-1, win the SEC for a 3rd straight year and make the playoffs for a 3rd straight year and a 2nd straight National Championship Game appearance is quite a accomplishment.
