With only a few sports left to go, Bama Sports 2014-2015 gets a B- from me.

Nowhere near an D or F since thankfully, none of our teams where a dumpster fire, but we've taken a dip. With only softball, golf, track and baseball still going on, this athletic year has yet to yield a national championship.... Football and Gymnastics being the only ones to even come realistically close so far.

Highlights so far
-2014 SEC Champions of Football
-2015 SEC Champions of Gymnastics
-Volleyball wins their first ever post season game
-Gymnastics goes 6-0 vs Auburn and continues a 116 game streak
-Basketball hires Avery Johnson
-Renovation of Joe Sewell begins at last.
-Swimming sets records at SECs and NCAAs, program on the rise.

Cool
-W. Basketball shows hints of life under Curry.
-Baseball sweeps Auburn amidst a blah season.

Lowlights
-Losing to Ohio State in Football.
-Losing to Ole Miss in anything
-yet another meh basketball campaign leads to firing.
-Soccer finishes meh and undergoes coaching change
-softball is bounced from SEC tournament by Auburn
-W. Tennis is upset by Clemson in Tuscaloosa from the NCAA tourney
-Gymnastics loses to LSU, breaking a 5 year home winning streak.

TO BE DETERMINED
Softball: Compared to their usual standard, the year has been underwhelming, far too few sweeps in the SEC and a quick exit from the SEC tourney hurt. But with the post season beckoning, all can be erased by getting hot right now and making it back to OKC. If the team can turn it on a trip all the way back to the finals isn't impossible, just not as likely as years before.

Baseball: This year has been tough and with a new venue being built for the program, talks of new leadership abound. For the time being, baseball has been very meh, starting the year well but being bogged down in SEC play. The SEC tourney and NCAAs still await so a lot can be rectified but hopes shouldn't be too high.

Track & Field: I know literally nothing about our team other than we're one of those schools with some impressive elite individuals but a "decent" overall team.

Golf: The women seem to have taken a step back from their dominant form of the past. The ladies only managed 4th in their regional, still advancing to NCAAs, but with little fanfare. The 2 time defending men's golf team is riding the highest of all remaining Bama sports, earning a #4 seed in the NCAA tourney after an humbling loss in the SEC tournament (held the lead for most of the tourney). As of now they hold our best shot of a 2015 National Championship.

Sidenote: Did you know Alabama Rowing (along with Tennessee and Old Dominion) is an affiliate member of the Big 12. Meaning, if they won a conference title it would make the University of Alabama a Big 12 Champion.

Then turning around and losing to OU. Two home losses to end the year

It was still pretty awesome to continue the streak against Auburn even if it was by the thinnest of margins.

swimming was top 10 at ncaa's... so it wasn't just a season of improving and breaking school records, we actually did well overall. we only improved 2 places over last year's ncaa finish, that was a team on the rise. we have 2 really good coaches who have each helped to run our national team program for a long time. hell one of our coaches even held a world record for half a decade. i like our prognosis while pursley and skinner are on the pool deck. pat needs to tighten up the divers if we want a shot at improving past where we are. just a few more points would've pushed us by auburn and got us 9th

Best part was, this ties a record for the MOST times an Alabama and Auburn team have squared off in one year....

The 2015 Auburn gymnastics team is statistically the best in their program history.

The 2015 Alabama team was under a coaching change and had lost over 50% of their starting routines from last year.

and we still went 6-0.

I just bought a condo at Riverwalk on Jack Warner Pkwy - that Bama Row team looked damn good early last Saturday morning while I was sitting out drinking my coffee.

You're going to have to explain this one to me. They finished dead last in the SEC, only winning 2 conference games.

I dont consider losing to a better team a low light. We were probably the second best team in the nation last year and most fans thought we were a 3 loss regular season team with Sims at QB. Was a pretty solid year in my book.

They showed random hints of potential through the year, pushing a lot of teams close, sweeping a tournament and upsetting a top ranked Nebraska team before some injuries before SEC play.

I get the feeling a cellar program like out W basketball team is going to take a little under the kind of time Jenny Mainz took to bring tennis into relevance. Her next class should help, all the signees are top 20 at their positions including a 5 star.
