Serious question.

Bulovas is a greyshirt, correct?

Please tell me it's not gonna be JK.

Kicking will be the Achilles heel this year, if we don't find somebody who can make 75% of kicks from 40 and in.

Bulovas is a blue shirt. He is already in campus, just has to pay his own way until fall practice.

JK looked good inside 40 yards in the spring game, I will take that all year long.

I've said for years I really wish Saban would just basically adopt a policy that anything outside of 35 yards we go for unless its 4th and more than 5 or so.

35 yards and in, 4th and more than 1? Kick
35-45 yards, 4th and less than 5? Go for it
35-45 yards, 4th and more than 5? Kick
45+ yards, 4th and less than 5? Go for it
45+ yards, 4th and more than 5? punt

What game were you watching? He nearly missed a 20 yarder to end it and his form was atrocious.

Why can't we get a fricking kicker who's automatic inside of 40 yards? Is that really too much to ask of the #1 team in the country? Jesus
We've literally lost games because our kicker always sucks arse

one of the lesser reason we need a full varsity Men's Soccer team at Alabama.

The game where he made all his kicks from under 40. Don't care about his form or if he almost missed. All I care about is he made them all.

Can't really be too picky with our kickers, if they can make 7 of every 10 field goals under 40 yards, I will call that great for a Alabama kicker these days.

Would 18-21 (86%) inside 40 yards work for you?

Just asking because that's what Adam Griffith did last season.

That's definitely good for CFB kicking.

Not sure what is in the water in Tuscaloosa though that #1 FG kickers never come close to the hype/have traumatic experiences at Bama.

Considering the success at literally every other position, including punter, and the high level of recruiting it is baffling

It really is weird. However, we also kind of are just geared to decide guys are awful if they miss a couple kicks because of our trauma over it.

Case in point (as was noted above), Adam Griffith.

From Inside 40 yards
2016 - 18/21
2015 - 16/21
2014 - 8/11
2013 - 1/2
Career - 43/55 (78%)

From Inside 30 yards
2016 - 10/11
2015 - 11/14
2014 - 5/6
2013 - 1/1
Career - 27/32 (84%)

Xtra Points
2016 - 66/67
2015 - 62/62
2014 - 53/54
2013 - 5/5
Career - 186/188 (99%)

The thing with Griffith was he would just randomly shank a field goal from 29 yards and then everyone would lose their minds.

Tiffin was similar. Cade Foster, though, was fvckin terrible.

I think it's part of the deal we have with God. Alabama can have just about everything, but we'll never have an ace kicker.

Jamie Christensen's been the closest to money in recent memory and we only had his services when we were hoping for maybe 10 wins in a season.

The single ugliest game winning field goal in football history at the Cotton Bowl. I was sitting in Row 3 on the 30 yards line and I swear that ball never got more than 5 feet above my head.

Wow didn't realize Griff was that good from under 40, seems like he missed a ton more.

I guess it has just been over 40 yards that has been so terrible for kickers.

He had a rough 2015 and a specifically rough stretch at the start of the year. Since then he was pretty good throughout the end of last year.

Wisconsin : 0/2
MTSU : 0/2

20-29 : 0-1
30-39 : 0-1
40-49 : 0-2

I don't remember it that way. Unless taping a dollar inside your sock as "closest to money". He was money at the end of games. But his performance in the middle of the games was very meh.

Earlier in that Cotton Bowl game he missed one inside 40 and had another one blocked before putting that sideways beauty through the uprights. Absolutely my favorite football memory with my dad. It was the only bowl game we ever got to go to.

Tiffin in 2009 was really solid, in fact he was an AP All American.

Y'all should have seen the REAL Tiffin kick. Van had fricking ice water in his veins. He wasn't perfect, but if it was inside 55, you knew you had a decent chance to make it. Inside 40 he was money.

The thing about all Bama kickers under Saban is they all had snakes in their heads. We've not had a one that seemed cool under pressure that you felt you could trust with the game on the line. I hope this next guy has his shite together so our All American punter can be a punter, not a provisional place kicker.

Loved Van Tiffin. The Kick is one memory indelibly sketched in my mind. He had a heck of strong leg...and he was good in the clutch...but I wouldn't say he was money from inside 40...his first year kicking he was overall at 56% and his third year he was at 65% so he missed his fair share...his other two years he was very solid as he was over 70%...remember though he also kicked in an era where kickers kicked off a tee for field goals...

Griffith's career FG% was higher and he also had a signature moment with his onside kick against Clemson...yet many Bama fans dismiss Griffith and revere Tiffin...I just can't see why both can't be revered...

Sorry, but 7/10 from INSIDE 40 isn't good enough. Actually that's pathetic - especially when he can miss from inside 30.
We need a kicker who's 7/10 from inside 50, and over 90% from inside of 40

Speaking of Tiffin, was anybody else in Fayetteville for his infamous game his freshman year in 2006?

That was awesome.
