He has torn ligaments in his ankle. Uncertain for LSU.

Brandon Greene

Saban said Piersbacher could pay RT (and LT) and Kirven is also a backup Tackle, so those are two more names. I think Cotton is also a backup Tackle.

Greene.

I think they shifted Piercbacher over after DJax went down because it was late and they didn't want Greene to have to switch jerseys and change the gameplan of him as a TE...

Green was practicing in his #58 jersey this week. But I really liked using him as a lead blocker out of the backfield. Last week was the first time I noticed that and it was effective. When Piershbacher moved over to RT Bozeman came in and played LG. I'd like to see Lester Cotton get a chance for more PT but not sure this is the right game.

Just my humble ignant opinion but you could move 71 to right tackle and put 75 in a guard. 75 has experience and has started a few games last year

Depends on what you're prepping to face.

Do you want to go heavy on heavy, run it against what will surely be 8 in the box? Keep Greene as an extra lineman on whichever side.

Or do you want to put a passblocking line in for the same scenario, to keep Coker upright to make the plays he'll have to make against LSU?

I think you stay with the least amount of shuffling to keep whatever cohesion they have. Unless they don't like what they see out of this week's practice and change it up next week.

Though it's been in very limited snaps, Greene is perfect as a passblocker this season. And his play at TE has increased the past 2 weeks.

i think it's tougher to replace what Greene brings as a blocking TE. They have used Hale Hentges a little bit, but I dont think this is the game to expand his role. Greene can be moved around to exploit matchups and he's essentially a 6th OL. Not sure who else can provide those same qualities. There are a couple options to plug in at RT.

I seem to remember Greene getting some first team reps in practice after Jackson struggled in pass pro against MTSU.

I hate moving guys all over to fill one spot. It seems you weaken two spots to fill one. Leave the 4 where they are and plug in a back-up at RT. Honestly, there shouldn't be that much of a drop off. I don't think DJax was playing at that high of a level, anyway. Greene should be an upgrade in pass pro over DJax. And LSU's DE aren't huge, so any straight-line mauling in the run game shouldn't be that critical if Greene is the starter.

I've not paid attention much to Greene playing in garbage time. If we get into 3rd & long situations is he quick with his feet to keep from getting beat?

Greene was more of a basketball player in high school who switched to football because he had more potential there. I think he's probably got better feet for pass blocking than Dominic but just wasn't as powerful as a run blocker. He's competed for a starting tackle spot several times and didn't come out on top. This is probably his big chance. If he comes in and does well he would be in good position to be a starter next season at right tackle.

I agree with others I don't like switching people around too much to fill one spot. It worked with an ultra talented guy like Barrett Jones but usually does not work out that well

Greene is our most athletic tackle, which is why he's able to play te

He's certainly playing at a higher level than the LT.

I thought the kid should have been playing guard day one.If Cam is not 100%.
As he really looks to be really laboring out there.

I would consider moving him To right tackle and have Green play LT.
Between Kelly, Cotton and Bozman and moving Cam.
We should be able to make it work..versatility wise.

If cotton is going to be used in this big game..
Splitting time between Guard and RT may be the way to pull it off .
