Where will GMAC's place be in Bama football lore?

Watching him at SECMD, I started wondering how much will GMAC be remembered by Bama fans for his role 30 years from now?

Obviously right now he's remembered by everyone as the QB for the '09 NC team. The guy who beat Tebow in the SECCG by hopping down the sideline. But he was immediately followed by AJ who won 2 rings and broke every major school passing record while garnering a lot of attention (good and bad) that usually accompanies a high profile QB. GMAC's reign was much more understated.

I also would be surprised if at least 1 out of Coker, Bateman, Cornwell, and Barnett doesn't go on to have a prolific, championship winning collegiate career followed by NFL success.

So, will GMAC be remembered or will he be the forgotten QB 30 years from now?

Probably along the same lines as Jay Barker

That QB a few years back who ended a title drought, spent like three years in the league and then did other stuff.

Not gonna name my kid after him but I'd buy him a drink if I met him.

Don't forget, GMAC was 13 yards away from being the first 3000 yard passer in school history in 2010. I think he'll go down as one of our better QBs and a great rep for UA. He's one of my favorites.

That is a lot of highly rated QB prospects.

I think he will be remembered as one of the better, most liked QBs in Alabama history for years to come. And the fact that he will likely be a media talking head for the foreseeable future will only keep his memory in people's minds.

That was my first thought too but we didn't win another NC for 17 years after Barker. He wasn't overshadowed by his successor. Barker will always have his place as the lone NC QB in the large gap between Bear and Saban.

I just imagine GMAC being an obscure piece of trivia decades from now:
"Who was the first QB to win a NC under Saban for Bama?"

75% will answer AJ

I just dont see that. Mclroy was in the limelight almost just as much as AJ when he was the starter.

2009 was a magical season and in my "prime" as an Alabama fan. College football has been the same since. We haven't gone undefeated since then, either. Gmac had a lot to do with that.

I'll remember him most for tiptoeing down the sideline and that TD pass to Colin Peek in the SEC Championship.

GMac will always be > than McCarron to me.

and don't forget lead blocking for Julio on the way to the end zone, knocking the slobber out of a Mich. State DB's mouth. I think that is my favorite memory of him.

I think he'll be pretty highly regarded. His lagacy will be 2009 but IMO, he'll have a better rep nationally than Barker ever had. Hopefully, his media career takes off and it only enhances his profile.

GMAC will be overshadowed by McCarron due to what AJ accomplished while at UA.

Sup...Sarc, Funky, ABDIW? I've been off the rant for a while. The seasons about to kick back up and it's time to "Gump Hard Or Go Home."

Yeah me too.

This will be the longest five weeks of the year.. It will seem to take six months for the next few weeks to pass..But when it gets here I'll be ready....

Legend has cashed in all his aluminum beer cans, sold me old rusty pickup truck, even cashed in some of the aluminum siding off my double wide trailer to get some Bama tickets....

SEE YOU IN TTOWN....

GMAC was such a great leader. The team rallied behind him every game. He was consistent and very accurate on throws within 30 yards. I will remember him most for his performace in the SECCG against UF and that he was a rhodes scholar finalist. Best of all, GMAC represented my alma mater with 100% class.
