What the heck was going on with our tackling?

I'm not even talking about Watson, he's elusive, I'm talking about the rest of their team.

We spent the entire 4th quarter trying to strip the ball instead of wrapping up, gave up lots of unnecessary extra yardage.

Gassed. Team has played a ton of football this year. It happens.

Total guess here but Clemson was turnover prone all year. Maybe we saw something in film that suggested that was an area we could take advantage of.

Precisely a reason to not go to more playoff games. We held up OK but look at Clemson--they were dropping like flies.

Yeah, I can't imagine what it would be like to add another one. We'd be deciding championships with 3rd stringers.

I didn't think it could or would happen to this defense but they were tired.

They were tired, hell it might've played into Bama's favor.

They don't get gassed, we don't see as much of Evans and Hand, who helped finish the game.

They were tired. We really didn't put together many long, sustained drives that ate clock and allowed the defense to rest.

It looked like we were just going for a big play. Clemson did a great job securing the ball.

The only play I was really disappointed on tacling was the big play on Clemsons last drive that went for 28 yards.
We had about 4 guys surrounding Peake after a 5 to 10 yard catch and he slips through for a big gain.

IIRC, there was maybe two times they got a first down because we were trying to strip it.

Sounds like something that could work in our favor

That was a Mel Tucker thing. I remember reading it was an emphasis of his when he was hired.

I'm not a big fan of trying to strip the ball, the extra yards given up isn't even worth it. I can't remember ever getting an actual strip that way.

Yeah, there was only about a 1 minute difference in the time of possession and that was with Clemson running an uptempo offense with fast developing plays. Defense was wore the hell out.

Too much emphasis on stripping the ball this year.
