Anybody take time to wrap their head around that? It's no even matchup by any means like the Trojans would've been back in the day, but guys, it's USC!

I was born in the mid 90s so I never really got to see huge match ups like this DURING the season. Elsewhere, of course. But I imagine the ratings for this game, regardless of team standing, will be off the charts for an opener. The brands for these two teams is astronomical compared to the rest of the CFB world.

Idk why, but just the name of the two teams gets me giddy

I'll be there. But it doesn't have the hype it could have had. Still a major matchup. Alabama and USC have a lot of history together. I'm sure we will also hear the Sam Cunningham mythology ad naseum the week of the game.

I'm excited as can be for this game. I have a feeling 2017 vs FSU will be much bigger, though.

I know I'm crazy, but I just can't get excited over FSU. I know it'll be a huge game

Be a lot more excited if SC was traveling to Bryant Denny or we were traveling to the Coliseum.

I know we're all spoiled, I just have problem getting excited about an opponent when we play them at Jerry World in the first game. I get excited about the season, and nervous about a big opponent, but I don't think WOW SOUTHERN CAL! If we were playing them in Tuscaloosa? I'd be over the moon.

Just sucks.

Home and home would be much better.

Living in Florida probably ups the excitement for me, but that game will be HUGE. Probably a better chance of it being a matchup between top 5 teams than not. It's going to be a HUGE game.

There's no question it's going to be huge. I'll be excited and nervous at game time. I just would have liked to play someone else I guess. I don't know what I have against FSU.

I agree. A huge part of playing OOC teams is playing them in their house or at our house. When Alabama played UCLA in 2000, I was giddy as hell at being able to see Alabama in the Rose Bowl with Keith Jackson calling the action. That may be the most I excited I have been for an Alabama opener..... Got our arse beat, but was still cool to see Alabama in Pasadena.

Would be great if USC were actually elite right now and they had a good HC. Instead, they've been going through the same recovery we used too after our sanctions- finding the right HC. USC is still loaded with talent, as any team in a state with hot bed talent. The challenge is prepping them for the right moments and developing them to their fullest potential.

I'm giddy over the name and what kind of game this could be. At the same time, I'm nervous about this game because here we are again, not knowing what QB will start and how he will look. Wisconsin last year was just over matched talent wise. Great news is that Bama comes into this game with an experienced secondary and a shut ton of talent up front again.

And of course, Lane saying hello to his former dream job.

USC might have just lost their best DL for the year. Hopefully, he makes a full recovery.

I hate that we aren't playing them in Tuscaloosa. We already don't have many interesting home games this year.

I loved the home and home with Penn. St. Wish we could do more of that with historic programs like USC.

Wasnt really directed towards you but some of the other guys doing the bitching.

BTW: if you want a team like So Cal or Michigan on the schedule it's easier for their fans to travel to Dallas. Other than their diehards, I doubt they are all that intested in coming to Tuscaloosa as we would be going to say LA.

Most people just feel it takes the uniqueness from college sports playing neutral games...seeing other campuses and getting a feel for their game day atmosphere is not the same at Jerry World...can bet usc fans wouldnt have a problem going to Tuscaloosa...could you imagine the atmosphere?

I think there's legitimate reason to be frustrated that Bama is evidently never again going to a play a big out-of-conference game in Tuscaloosa. Just as there's legitimate reason to be frustrated with a home slate of Western Kentucky, Kent State, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Chattanooga, and Auburn. There are four home games on the schedule of any interest whatsoever, and that's if you're being generous to Kentucky and TAMU.
