...assuming he is successful:

1. Annual beatdowns of LSU. Should become more difficult for LSU to win the West.
2. The streak against the Vols continues ad infinitum. Does anyone outside of Knox County think that Sgt. Carter is the better coach?

Of course, there will be some downside. An improved Florida program makes it tougher to win the SEC and recruit Florida. But the proxy wins against LSU and Tennessee will be fun to watch.

Florida being better isn't a good thing. Some of the best recruits are from Florida and we don't want more competition for them.

Another upside is McElwain isn't as good as a recruiter as Muschamp. Should help us recruit Florida.

The upside is it isn't Gruden, Stoops, Kelly, Harbaugh, etc...

Only downside is when he hires away Napier, Bama's best regional recruiter around LA/TX/AR.

Throw some money at Adam Henry...

It's inevitable, though. Florida won't tolerate a crappy program any more than we were willing to.
