Pretty simple. We need a qb that can utilize the talent we have at WR and TE year in and year out while still having the threat to take off and run. Saban mentioned it after almost every game this year how we needed to get the ball to our playmakers more. We couldn't do it enough down the stretch this season so hopefully we can next season. We need a "dual threat" qb like Deshaun Watson, but obviously not the caliber he is because those don't come around too often...

bullshite! Defense still does win championships as long as your offense isn't so totally inept, they go 2/16 on third down or whatever the pathetic number was. All we needed in every close game we played this year was the offense to sustain some drives and run clock. They did enough in every game except the last one.

AJ McCarron was an elite college passing QB

We played better defenses the last 5 or so games of the year and the best offense in CFB the last game of the year. The offense being just enough wasn't enough to win that game. We were close, yes, but that was honestly just because our defense was able to shut them down most of the first half when they weren't tired.

Don't get why he of all people runs a QB camp and analyzes QB potential in general. Dude was mediocre at best in the pros and if it wasn't for an insane defense backing him up in 2000, he would've never sniffed a Super Bowl.

Same reason why Saban can coach defense so well despite never sniffing the NFL.

many of the best coaches never played at an elite level but now the x and o's as well as how to teach fundamentals. Coach K was never elite.

Brody Croyle WAS an elite QB.. Unfortunately, his O-lines were about as effective as submarines with screen doors... He must haves fricked each of their gf's cause it seems like they tried to get him killed..

I don't care who starts, as long as they're a decent passer. "Dual" threat QB's suck arse if they're not actually a dual threat. If a QB can't pass, you might as well put a RB back there. They're better runners. In my opinion, after smarts and knowledge of the offense, the next requirement of a starting QB should be the ability to accurately throw a football. I don't give a damn how well a QB can run if he can't throw.

That said, I'd be shocked to see a true freshman start for the second year in a row at Bama. Hurts is undoubtedly the favorite to win the job. I just hope he improves significantly.

Hours of entertainment back when it was more common for the AU and LSU fans to question Bama's 12 NC's.

Do some of you truly believe that Tua is going to start a game over Jalen this year? Or are yall just trying to rustle jimmies?

They are trying to rustle, he isn't starting unless hurts completely implodes or gets hurt.

I am not trying to rustle anything but I truly believe Tua is the better qb and gives us a better chance to win a NC. Now do I believe he is going to start over Jalen this year? Maybe, if Hurts struggles and we lose to either Miss St or Lsu later in the year, I would put it 50/50 as of today.

Because he looked good against Vandy, after being put in the game up 40 something to 0? You think a true freshman that hasn't seen a lick of meaningful playing time gives us a better chance to win the NC than Hurts?

I think that Tua will be good, and I am excited for him, but I just don't understand how you guys arrive to some your conclusions.
