Are we even NIT bound? We have one the worst RPIs in the conference.

Projected 5 seed right now against Pittsburgh. I'm ready for the season to end.

Looking back to when Avery was hired I would've taken 2 NIT appearances his first 2 years. I thought we would be really awful last season. Sucks actually going through it though especially falling apart at the end of both seasons.

Before this season started, I think we all knew it was merely a season we had to "get through" until our greatest recruiting class in Alabama history got here for the 2017/18 season. A tournament appearance would have been nice, but it just wasn't in the cards. I'm blessed Avery even got us on the bubble for a little while with the horrible lack of talent we have.

But this season is over now, all dreams of the tourney are dead. Let's get the shittiest Senior class I have ever seen the f*ck outta here. (Brandon Austin hopefully gets the f*ck out too)

Now let's have some fun. I posted this on Twitter. Our studs coming in next season, this is the NBA Player they remind me of. Comment, or post a better comparison if you can think of one....

Daniel Giddens - Horace Grant
Herb Jones - Mike Miller
John Petty - Tracy McGrady
Alex Reese - Brook Lopez
Collin Sexton - Gilbert Arenas/John Wall

when your team needs to win it's last four games to keep it's hope alive and drops the first two

going from memory didn't we have this happen last year where we went on a good roll and then faded down the stretch to completely take us off the bubble.

Yes, we went 1-3 in our last 4 games last season. We've started 0-2 in the last 4 this year.

we should've made the NCAA tournament this year.

Based on what? Your desire to make it? How could you possibly look at this roster and think that? We lost a player who had one of the best seasons in school history in Retin. Our best player is a true freshman that scores 12 PPG and is our only somewhat consistent offensive crutch when he wasn't even relied on to score as much in HS. King was viewed as the best player in last years' early season practices, yet he struggled in his first few games and couldn't get healthy enough to play most of the year. Davis, while playing better recently, was not what we had hoped for. Ingram hasn't been as good as expected and is still our 2nd best offensive player even with being extremely TO prone (especially in crunch time). Our 2nd best scorer last year, Hale, has had the worst senior season regression of all time. After seeing the current talent we have had on display this season, I'm not exactly sure what y'all are so upset about. I hate that they got our hopes up, but it is very clear that we do not have the current talent to be a tournament team. I know I sound like a broken record, but I don't see how some are not grasping this.

Don't watch much NBA, but I'll give it a try

Sexton - Eric Bledsoe: Great quickness, electric in the open floor, both just slightly above 6'
Petty - Jimmy Butler: Great athletes, can play either 2 or 3, good shooters
Reese - Patrick Patterson: Solid big that can spread the floor. Both slightly under 6'10"
Herb - DeMarre Carroll: Long, athletic, hopefully a good spot up shooter
Giddens - DeAndre Jordan: Big and strong but raw. Lack post moves and is bad at the line.

Yeah look at our starting five the past two seasons:

2015-2016
PG - Retin: Didn't even start the year before
SG - Arthur Edwards: was a New Mexico role player
SF - Riley: Very limited athletically
PF - Kessens: At FIU now
C - Jimmie: Also limited athletically

2016-2017
PG - Ingram: 3 star redshirt freshman
SG - Riley
SF - Key: True freshman- oftentimes Oak Hill played through him, but he was never the focus of the opponent like he probably is now
PF - Bola: Grad transfer from Southern Illinois
C - Hall: 3 star sophomore, great athlete but a very raw player

Four major minute guys (Coleman, Corban, Kessens, and Bola) we've had will play or played part of their careers at small level teams. We have a pretty rag tag roster at the moment.

Agree completely. The fact that we weren't one of the worst teams in the conference the last two years is amazing and a testament to the coaching job Avery has done. We still aren't very talented (obviously) but you can look at the improvement rebounding and see the progress Avery's made. Next year we have a major influx in talent and anything other than securely in the tournament (top 6 or higher seed) would be severely disappointing.

But there is zero chance in hell we "should have been in the tournament this year". Hopefully we can rebound from these losses, win the final two games and win a couple in the NIT to give us momentum next year

In basketball, you have to keep on having good classes, even more so than football due to the one and done.

So, while this class may be good and it's definitely a start, let's all hope it isn't like setting fire to some pine straw looking like big flames, but for just a short time.

I've said it on Twitter, I completely disagree with the NIT being a good thing. These players don't want to play in that sh*t. What's good about a tournament that doesn't lead to a National Championship. If you don't make the big dance, go home, practice. If Tom Brady doesn't make the NFL Playoffs, he doesn't play in a consolation ladder. He goes home and practices. It's an embarrassment to play in a tournament that decides the 65th best team in the country. The players should leave the SEC Tournament once they are eliminated, take their ball, and go home. Playing in tournaments that don't mean anything like the NIT is a kick in the nuts. It's like Bowl games in football outside the 4 team playoff, whats the point?

I'll take the extra practice time that comes with a good NIT run over nothing. Same in football with a bowl game.

How is playing in the NIT more embarrassing than not playing in a postseason tournament?

If we don't qualify for March Madness then we should just go home. Tournaments that don't lead to a National Title feels a little too much like Participation Medals. I was raised you either play for the championship, or you don't. 65th place shouldn't get a trophy.

You do realize that if you don't make a bowl or the NIT, you no longer can have the same kind of practices nor can you be with your coaches the same amount of time. So your whole point about practicing is pretty much wrong.

So you're just saying it shouldn't exist which I'd be fine with. I kind of enjoy the extra basketball though, and I think with a young team like ours it can help build some momentum into the following year.

VCU made the final four the year after they won the CBI.
Wichita State made the final four two years after winning the NIT.
Baylor had a decent run the year after they won the NIT too I think.

Also, some of the small conference schools in the NIT are better than teams in the big dance but just got upset in their conference tournament. IMO small conferences' automatic bids should go to the regular season champ.

I'm not sure extra practices will make a difference with this team
