Until they find a way to make season ticket holders come to games or donate their tickets, there will still be empty seats regardless of how small the arena is

Auburn isn't that good

How many games of Auburn have you watched? From a talent perspective they are competitive w top 3 in the SEC, they just match that with a bottom 3 in inconsistency so they appear a lot worse they are.

the difference was just they had 42 FTs to our 19.

After adjusting for home court bias, got to remember that Auburns style took advantage of the new whistle everything mentality while Alabama didn't. Auburn consistently drove the lane and pounded it inside while Alabama jacked up 3s and midrange shots. Don't forget too that Alabama bricked the front end of every 1n1.

Yea, I think somewhere between 10-13K is the best range.

Oregon - Matthew Knight Arena (12,364) (opened 2011) ($242M in 2017 $s)

Southern Cal - Galen Center (10,258) (opened 2006) ($175M in 2017 $)

Virginia - John Paul Jones Arena (14,858) ($171M in 2017 $)

Auburn has the same issue. Drives the AD marketing director nuts

They no shite had a guy call in his donation rep to Bitch that he saw on TV someone was sitting in his courtside seat

What do you say to that? To even be offered the privileged of buying those seats you need to have cumulative donations of $250k-500K+

Doubt Byrne will immediately step in and say "we're getting a new arena!". Give him a year or two, and we'll probably see it happen.

12k would be the perfect size with better student and band placement.

Why not just give the season ticket holders a one push donate button, and give them a write off form at the end of the season? Give the tickets to disadvantaged good students in Tuscaloosa/Auburn area.

We do

From an Alabama donor I know, they have the same issues btw

1) A lot of these donors are of the quill and parchment not mouse and keyboard generations.

2) These donors are so rich they don't care about letting $200/game seats go empty. They can't be bothered to give tickets to friends, so they clearly don't care about Getting seats filled/others

3) A lot of donors "intend" to go to the game and are last minute cancellations. They refuse to give up their flexibility of having tickets available but too late to give away

You'd think people giving that much money to the school would want to help the team succeed by filling those seats. It seems like this would be a problem at every school, so I wonder what other schools' policies are

Damn that's some big money. Especially considering we'd likely be selling less tickets

Positive note to end the day on: We are still #4 in the SEC

Another positive note: I'm nowhere near suicidal or this team would have pushed me over the edge by now

It is a little more complicated than that. A lot of people are just casual bball fans and like big games + increasing their donor level with the tickets. So for the "smaller" games they just forget about them

If I was suicidal, I wouldn't have made it to the Avery Johnson era. I would've already ended it during Grant's years

It makes sense. As long as it is done right, it is a low cost high reward type situation for him

I realize y'all have done some renovation work but that honestly has little to no meaning. A fresh wave of donors since then who still remember Alabama basketball success are available

If there is a cluster of 7-10 win teams, I'd rather fall in the bottom of that grouping due to weird tiebreaker rules etc

Getting a couple of easy wins does more for your record than the forgotten fact that you got a bye or two

I was really pissed when they kept throwing more money at Coleman and giving it some weak arse renovation in hopes of showing everyone "hey look! We're still investing into the b-ball prorgam!". Wasted money. Swallow your pride and build a new arena. Can be such a game changer for a program like Alabama.

Our next stretch of games is rough

Midweek @UGA
Miss State
Midweek @Arkansas
Auburn
Midweek @SCAR
Kentucky

Probably 2-4 if even.

ETA: @UGA and @Arkansas while tough are winnable games
