What really sucks is that we could have won last night's game. Statistically, we were about even in all categories except two: free throws and turnovers.

18 turnovers in one game is horrific. I like Dazon a lot, but this guy is sporadic with the ball and often doesn't pay attention where or who he's passing the ball to. I think for about 4-5 straight possessions, we turned the ball over in the final 4 minutes. We had absolutely no answer for their trap.

Don't even get me started on free throws. Know this- Florida and Alabama both attempted 32 free throws last night. Difference? Florida made 75%, Alabama made 50%. I had to double check to even see if we made 16 FTs. This has been a problem since Avery has been here and I even wonder if it ever gets addressed. He addressed rebounding obviously, because since the Texas game, we've out rebounded 8 straight opponents. What can't any of our fricking guards just go at least 50% from the line?

Starting to hope Ar'Mond also starts over Norris until Norris can fricking shoot. Norris is supposed to be a spot up shooter and be able to get rebounds. He had 2 rebounds last night and went 1-4 from the field. Ar'Mond in his last two games has shot 50% from beyond the arc, shot 4/6 from the charity stripe, and has 22 points. Norris hustles and that's good, but he really doesn't bring anything else to table other than that. He's one dimensional when he dribble and can't get beat a defender.

Norris just isn't a good shooter. He's average. His career 3-point percentage is 34 percent. That's not knock-down. It's not good. It's very average. Plus look at how he shoots FTs. 65 percent for his career. Guys that are good to great shooters are usually at a minimum in the high 70s, low 80s on FTs.

He rebounds ok for the size he brings to the game, and he's useful in certain defensive scenarios. Here's the reality - next year he is probably, as a senior, going to go from a two-year starter to a reserve and play as few minutes as he has since his freshman season. It's not his fault, that's where our talent is now and where it's headed.

Yeah, I mentioned a few days ago that I thought it might be good to play Davis more. His shooting is streaky, but I think he brings a level of athleticism and quickness some of the other guards are missing. He has decent size and looks to score. Jr seems to get scared whenever he's being played tight by a good defender. It's like he's just trying to get rid of the ball, with nothing else in mind.

That game last night was about what I expected, but it still sucked.

We've had stretchs the past 5 games when we've looked very good and of course stretchs we've looked very bad. We have the chance to get some solid road wins over the next few games

Both Sexton and Petty received McDonald's all American nominations

Next 5 games:

@LSU
Missouri
@Auburn
@Georgia
Miss St

Would love to go 5-0 in this stretch. Would put us at 14-6 (7-1). Don't really see it happening especially with 3 being away games, but u never know. Gotta shoot free throws and stop turning the ball over first

I could see us anywhere from 4-1 to 2-3 in that stretch.

Yeah all of the SEC outside of UK, Florida, and maybe South Carolina is very mediocre. LSU and Missouri are probably the only two teams that'd I would call bad as well

I kind of miss the old days of physical defense.

We all do.

We can win all 5 of those if we make our FTs and not turn the ball over

So we can't win all 5 of those.

I'm sorry, but I'm pissed about last night. A freaking 1-3-1 half court trap made us look like a 8U girls team.

We had better beat LSU and Misery. They both suck. Auburn at the Barn is a loss. Not because they are good but because Pearl knows which ones he'd better win and that's one. We can beat both sets of Dawgs at home and probably should. 4-1 is a realistic goal but 3-2 is more likely. Anything worse is a fail.

Edit: just saw UGA is a road game. 3-2 very realistic

Earlier in the year, I felt the same about Auburn but they're playing downright terrible right now. If both teams play at their average in-conference level Bama will win with relative ease.

Of course, what that means is that they will probably figure it out against Bama and beat the frick out of us.

Riley Norris needs to be sitting on the other side of Lawson Schaffer.

Hoping King returns soon and he and Davis squeeze his minutes to less than 5 per game.

Auburn is likely missing Danjel Purifoy who is out with a high ankle sprain.

He is the hardest player to replace since he is the only true stretch 4 on the team. Without him our O looks like hot garbage

That said, Anfernee McElmore has flashed potential as a standin but always in foul trouble and not nearly the player Purifoy is regardless

Not because they are good

When Auburn is "on" they are scary good and can beat anyone. Unfortunately, you never know if they'll be on or not and they never seem to do it for >35m /game

Y'all really are snakebit. Pearl had them looking good early on, but yeah right now things are pretty .

Having said that, I still have no confidence at all going to Auburn. I still have PTSD over the 49-37 game (that probably kept Bama out of the NCAA tourney) and the 94-40 game that should have been classified a hate crime.
