You guys have to believe we'll be able to close out some of these games next year with better talent. Five of the six losses this team has, they've had opportunities to win down the stretch, just couldn't close out.
Hopeful post, and I know the talent will be young next year. I just see how Key has played and how Hall has played the last two years, I think we're in for a big step up next year.
Trying to stay optimistic.

This year has been frustrating, but analytically we're a significantly better team than we were last season. I agree Gary, an influx of guys who can make plays and score will take us from .500 team who plays good defense but can't consistently score to solid, NCAA caliber team.
We play very good defense, we are a very good rebounding team.......we just don't have anybody who can consistently score or make shots. Avery is trying his best to scheme around that, but it's pretty difficult.
I hate thinking about next year, but add the two blue chippers to a team with Hall, Ingram, Key and whatever we get out of King and Giddens plus some erratic shooting from Davis and a solid backup PG in Avery Jr? That team has a chance to be pretty good depending on how good the freshmen actually end up being.
We just have to slop through this year and understand the roster makeup at this point and it's limitations.

Look at some of these pure offensive metrics. We're just plain awful.
Adjusted Offensive Efficiency - 194th
eFG% - 232nd
3PT% - 297th
FT% - 316th
Not much you can do to work around that sort of turd sandwich.

Next year?
I haven't given up on THIS year.
I fully expected to lose to Florida. The fact that we were in the game until pretty much the very end was a much better performance than I expected.
As you said, this team could have won a lot of the close games against pretty good teams. Aside from UK, there's nobody in the SEC better than the teams we've played thus far and many of them are quote worse. I still think 10 or more conference wins are very possible.

Yeah take a look at the 5 games we've played since Avery scrapped part of the playbook. We're 4-1 and have played pretty good. We still have a shot at the NCAA tourney THIS year if we can beat most of the average teams on our schedule. Only for sure losses are UK, SCar, and maybe Arky.

To even sniff the NCAA now, you're likely going to need 10 MORE regular season wins plus a couple in the tourney.
That's probably asking too much, but an upper half to third conference finish and NIT bit is still right there for the taking.

If we win every game except Kentucky, SCar, and Arky, we'd be 21-9 (14-4). Can about guarantee you that won't happen but that's the ceiling for this season. With how weak the SEC is and having no really good wins, I'm guessing we'd be on the bubble but get in.

If we could just hit free throws .....we'd probably have a few more wins. Pretty good wins at that.

Y'all really are snakebit. Pearl had them looking good early on, but yeah right now things are pretty
So Auburn is #322 in Experience (1.13yrs) and #312/351 in "Minute Continuity" (Measures returning minute share from last year to this year)
Our big issue is that the youth doesn't have veteran leadership to push them to buy into the offense/defense. Guys fall back to playing like their AAU days and we struggle when that happens
I love Bruce but for this specific circumstance, we need some Frank Martin babysitting to get these kids on board

We aren't going to the NCAA tournament. Lets hope the team improves, plays well down the stretch and is fun to watch in the conference tournament.
We don't have any good wins and unless we beat Kentucky we won't have any really impressive wins all season. Zero shot at the NCAA tournament.

Yall are just in a shite situation for NCAAT birth because of this.
There aren't really many top teams left on the schedule and you can't afford to drop any against lesser opponents.

Yep - our only slim path was to beat Florida at home. Without that, we really only have 2 shots left at Top 30 RPI type wins, and I don't see any way we beat Kentucky at home or win at South Carolina.
I mean, honestly, I don't see much way we win out in all the toss up/dead even games either, which would also be necessary. We just don't score enough.

The SEC is garbage. We can beat any team not named Kentucky imo.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that we are going to the NCAAs. That went out the window when we didn't win any of the big OOC games.
What I meant by not giving up on the season is that we still have a reasonable shot at a high conference finish and NIT bid. That isn't what we hoped for, but it isn't the end of the world either.

There is a big difference between winnable and likely win though
