This is the sort of things why Saban is so far ahead of everyone else.

He's making moves a year in advance to have literally zero continuity problems when Kiffin gets a HC job this year.

Next level shite. I hate y'all so much.

Beyond the possible OC Succession plan, given the QB situation coming down to a true freshman and a RS Freshman, it is great to have another QB whisperer on the staff.

I'm afraid that Nick is setting up Bama for the future , and I respect the hell out of him for thinking ahead for the program , because he is seriously mulling over the idea of retiring after this season ends. I don't think he'll coach again , he will be done coaching. Prepare to see him on TV if/when he decides to hang it up. Personally and selfishly , I hope he sticks around for 3 or 4 more years but I do think that hes preparing Bama for his departure. Roll Tide!

This is what I just posted on FB on this story. Anyone think that there is a chance of this being the case? Or is this just Nick doing what he does by continuing to better the program?

His title is offensive analyst. But I would probably consider him a consultant during meetings, a QB assistant, and a booth guy to help kiffin.

He's not retiring.

quote:
Saban, 63 (he turns 64 on Oct. 31), made it clear he's not thinking about giving up his headset anytime soon.

"You know my mother had a hole-in-one when she was 80. I’ve never had one," Saban said. "So I’m thinking I have 16 more good years of golf, and if I can play golf I should be able to coach."

I hope he is not thinking about it. Pretty crazy that if he were to retire tomorrow that we would still have one hell of a coaching staff! Saban is unreal!

Offensive Analyst, which is what it sounds like. He watches, he makes suggestions.

More of a consultant to coaches than players, as he's really not allowed to "coach". How it gets around the limit of hires.

What he can't do, or Bama will be in NCAA violation of too many coaches:

quote:

(a) Provides technical or tactical instruction related to the sport to a student-athlete at any time;

(b) Makes or assists in making tactical decisions related to the sport during on-court or on-field practice or competition; or

(c) Engages in any off-campus recruiting activities.

Wasn't Kiffin brought in with a similar title? Sark is going to help coach the QB's and learn his future roll. He's probably also going to be Lane's eyes in the booth since Kiff walks the sidelines.

Under this title, he can't contribute on game day.
