Herbie is saying when was the last time a pocket passer beat Bama. Sounds like we may have to sprinkle in a few QB runs to keep them honest.

quote:

Tennessee almost beat them this year and Arkansas played them close too. This is not a powerhouse and explosive Alabama team, we can win.

quote:

Cook drops dimes left and right. Freshed legged RB (LJ) breaks through a worn out D in the 4th with AUTHORITATIVE runs. Front seven does what it does vs bama O.

quote:

Make them throw. If you slow down their running game their offense goes away entirely. We have done well against Freeman and Elliot, we can handle Henry.

quote:

SEC quarterbacks in general suck. I honestly can't remember one that I have looked at and thought was good since Newton. Cook last night wasn't very good and he was still better than every quarterback in the SEC. Seriously we have faced at least six quarterbacks that are better than anyone Bama has played(Terrell, Adams, Rush, Sudfeld, Barrett and Beathard) and two more who can make an argument for being better(Rudock and Hackenberg)

quote:

Their defense is good but beatable. First Cook needs to be healthy. I expect Cook to win us this game.

quote:

3 yards. Cloud of dust. Sprinkle in more option. Attack the clock. Why not wishbone (somewhat joking).

They were pretty arrogant when they came to Orlando. Granted, I didn't sit by any because the entire stadium was full of crimson, but the few I talked to at the pep rally were fricking cocky.

Best part of that night was their president said "we're gonna roll the Tide". I just remembered that the entire time during that arse beating.

I didn't make it to that game, but I bet it must have been one hell of an after party.

I was in Orlando for that game. During the pre game warm ups, I looked at my buddy and said, "We are going to kill them." It was so obvious with just the eyeball that our players were an entirely different breed of cat.

(Same thing against Notre Dame in Miami, too)

I'll never forget what Urban said about the two teams in that game. The second he saw both teams on the field, he knew it was over. He said that's what he wants OSU to be.

Meh.
Just message board banter. Nothing way outside the norm.
Just go back and read all the Rantard posts before the LSU game.

Of course no one is going to reach that level of delusion, outside of Auburn.

I remember the same air of confidence around this time a year ago. I feel fairly confident about MSU, and I expect our team to be ready this year, but I'm just sayin'...

Good point. MSU didn't get here by accident.

This is definitely going to be a tough game. I mostly lol at some of the wildly erroneous "analysis" in those comments. Anyone that thinks Bama's DL will be remotely worn down obviously has never watched them play.

Yeah, I'm about 55-60% confident we are going to win, but it wouldn't surprise me if we lost. The OU and tOSU games took away most of my bravado when it comes to the postseason.

i've been looking at some of msu defensive stats. we keep hearing about that stout msu d, but i'm not sure the stats bear that out. they're good no doubt. but we've played several defenses that stack up to theirs easily, if not better.

we have the pass rushers to get to cook and seriously hamper their passing. i have no expectation of cook suddenly being a running qb.

after looking at their stats, i felt a lot more at ease about this game. so let them talk all they want too. they really dont stack up to us.

And I think that he has succeeded in making Ohio State an SEC type team in the B1G, and has thus forced the rest of the top teams in the B1G like Mich St, Mich, etc to step their game up also.

Now, we could end up destroying Mich St again, but I don't get that feeling. I feel like things have evened out somewhat across the country in terms of talent-level, speed, recruiting at the nation's top programs, regardless of what conference they're in.

They held Iowa, a team who had 3 different RBs each rush for 195yds, 204yds, and 256yds in a game, to 2.2 ypc and 52 total rushing yards.

Same time, other teams have had success against them. It all depends on the health of the o-line, and their effort.

The past 2 games, on at least 2/3 of the carries, have been behind Shank and Jackson. The running game has gotten better with Shank. He looks somewhat unathletic when running, but he pulls extremely well, and is a tank in open space. He needs some more time, but his ceiling is pretty high.

Hopefully the time off helps CamRob get healthy, he is the key to the playoffs. Nysewander and Brandon Green will have to help double the DEs in certain situations if not.

Plus if we win, we desperately need him to be able to keep up with Striker.

I loved the pistol set with Nyeswander leading the way.

Once he got out wide, he was doing a terrible job of blocking. Saban got onto him a few times. He would run right by two defenders, touch neither of them, and both guys would put a hit on the ball carrier.

It won't be. Our oline struggles against good front 7's and if they stop the run we will be in a tight one come the 4th quarter. Plus MSU is well coached
