I knew Hoover was in trouble this year when they barely beat Mtn Brook and had a hard time on offense. I like Hoover but not a huge fan of their coach. Congrats to SP

Did the Spain Park fans tear down the goalposts at Hoover? What are Bham folks saying about that?

according to my son, a Spain park player (or players)DID tear down the goalpost at the Hoover Met (stadium used to be used for Barons games as well)

Apparently a kid was told he would have to pay for the goal post

This is all hearsay - my bet is that nothing comes of it

Listening to the radio, said the last time Hoover was shut out, was back in 1991.

Damn I looked it up. Spain Park was 0-13 all time vs Hoover. Great win for their program.

I remember my AM Hewitt won in about 5 overtimes vs. Spain Park I believe last year. Score was outrageous. Something like 51-48 or something.

Go figure, Hewitt's coach is an ex-Malzahn QB.

Actually 14, but 1st year was only grades 9 and 10.
Propst caused an ugly rivalry. First time they played JV he played all juniors. When they played varsity the 1st time SP had a Fresgman QB Neil Caudle. HHS scored 70 points and Propst left his 1st team in the whole game. Threw a fit T the team b/c they didn't score 100
Wish I could have been there last night as does my daughter who was in the SP first graduating class

We live very close to 31 and 65; when they changed campus sites, my wife went from damn near being able to walk to work (about 2 or 3 miles) to having to drive halfway to Auburn (I exaggerate, I know...)

The footprint of Hoover and its school district is just ridiculous.

Aren't they about to go through another re-zoning? Thought I read something about sending some kids in Bluff Park to Spain Park or something weird like that.

they have ALWAYS sent kids from Bluff Park over to Spain Park. Shades Mountain Elementary feeds into Berry Middle School and Spain Park and always has since the new Berry campus and Spain Park have opened

Oh, guess I'm confused. Thought they were considering re-zoning some kids recently, and seems some Bluff Park folks were upset.

They were going to more evenly distribute the students based on "diversity"

Trace Crossings Elementary (which basically shares a campus with hoover High) is right now a "majority minority" school and Rocky Ridge Elementary is also, or is very close.

The school board drew up a plan to spread the "apartment kids" out so that each elementary school had the same demographics

parents raised hell, yes in Bluff Park and Ross Bridge, but even moreso in Greystone

The plan was dropped. I guess it's not just Ole Miss...
