Should UA change the way they give out student postseason football tickets?

I was at the game tonight, and the student section was maybe halfway full. The rest of the stadium was worse. Coming off of a blowout loss on the road, I was hoping that our fans would show our team more support.
Several recruits are looking at us, and while we cannot guarantee the winning tradition of Kansas or Duke, we should be able to promise them that our small stadium will support them. Frankly, the crowd we had tonight is not going to attract the type of recruits that could turn our program around. I know that this game wasn't televised, but still.
At the risk of cementing our reputation as a football-only school, perhaps the answer is to change the way that we give out student postseason tickets. We should start rewarding students who go full gump and attend several other athletic events besides football.
Maybe a combination of both hours earned at UA and athletic events attended since January

We should have a student ticket priority system, yes. We need to copy the model Mississippi State uses. We are way behind the times. Leveraging the success of football to increase student attendance at every other sporting even would do wonders.

It's time for a new arena. The excitement and energy it brings to a program is tremendous and the support would increase from the student body. The students here don't want to spend their Friday nights for an OOC game in Coleman Coliseum.
I find nothing wrong with Coleman personally, but it just isn't an attractive venue.

quote:15k isn't a small arena for basketball. I think we have the 29th largest arena in college basketball.

the Crimson Pride Rewards system or whatever has done wonders for our non-revenue sports, adjusting it to factor in to the student away tickets wouldn't be a bad idea at all.
As for basketball.... WIN. Just flipping win and the crowd grows and grows. Even Anthony Grant was given a pretty fierce crowd during the seasons he established Alabama in the top half of the SEC and even got us ranked. Look at the Georgetown game in 2011 or 12, it was rocking because we felt like we mattered in basketball world.
I admit it's on us to show up during the building process, but I'm not worried. I've grown up with this fan base all my life and I know what makes it tick. Alabama fans have a tendency to give a real damn when programs win. Why else do you think we own NCAA records in attendance in Softball and widely regarded as the best atmosphere in the sport. Why does gymnastics boast one of the best spectacles in all of women's athletics?
We win
We care
We ROCK THE HOUSE.
I know our fans will can do it, because we can already do this.

Maybe it's a chicken/egg scenario, but one of the ways that we win is by attracting the right recruits. Recruits want to see fan support.
Hell, Auburn had 7800 at their game against Georgia Southern last night. It's disappointing that our fanbase can be such front runners.

I read this 3x trying to figure out what other team you were also a fan of besides Alabama. Finally realized you were talking about basketball.
In my defense, basketball arenas are usually not called stadia.
