Those ratings seem too good. That team had a ton of close losses though.

And played a really tough schedule relatively close, including 2 OT losses. We easily could have been a 6-6/7-5 team if 5 plays go a different way.

#1 LSU (lost by 24)
#3 Oklahoma (lost by 7)
#4 Georgia (lost by 14)
#13 Arkansas (lost by 3 OT)
#17 Auburn (lost by 5)
#23 Tennessee (lost by 8, 5OT)
#28 Ole Miss (lost by 15)
#47 Southern Miss (won by 14)
#63 Hawaii (lost by 8)
#69 Northern Illinois (lost by 3)
#75 Kentucky (won by 10)
#78 South Florida (won by 23)
#94 Mississippi St (won by 38)

Those DuBose teams were terrible. Shaun Alexander and Chris Samuels were the greatest player coaches of all time.

This fricking game. They converted a 4th and 19 or some shite in the fourth overtime I think.

Yes, 4th and 19.

We also had a 1st and 1 in the 4th where if we got the 1st down the game was over that we ended up not getting and let the game go to OT.

Has Shaun Alexander made any move into coaching? Or is he content being a father and living out his days in peace and quiet?

He lives in Metro DC, homeschools his 8 kids with his wife, and travels through country speaking to groups (I'd assume about faith and character).

He's a great man.

We got that first down on the 2nd play. Horrible, cheating horrible spot on the ball.

Anybody notice a pattern here?

So according to S&P, 2007 was the worst Bama team in at least the last 26 years

Yep, apparently so. And they were a 4th down stop away from beating LSU.

Amazing we were literally a Florida loss away from playing for a national championship one year later.

That was a tough game. I remember that team as being just all over the place. They beat Arkansas (at the time, beating the #16 team was considered an enormous win), lost in overtime to a great UGA team (best team in the country in 2007), then laid an egg against Florida State in Jacksonville but still almost came out with a victory. Then they went down to literally the last play against Houston and Ole Miss before trouncing eventual SEC East champion Tennessee 41-17. At this point they were in the hunt for the SEC West before losing out the regular season. Had to be one of the most up and down teams of all time.

One of the worst overall football games I've ever watched.

The next week we had to bat a ball down in the end zone to beat Houston, too (Case Keenum and Art Briles).
