Different OC... Kiffin is a master at getting the ball to a top WR talent.

You can't base it just on stats. The offense we run now is much different. When I think of Cooper as a freshman, I can't help but think of the Sec championship game and the Notre Dame game.

Nah. He is Damn good though. You also have to keep in mind Cooper didn't become a full time starter until mid way through the season. Coopers breakout game was vs Tennessee, where he had 162 yards and 2 TDS on just 7 catches.

Exactly. When comparing the two at this point, you cannot factor in games that haven't technically happened yet. If both were playing right now and had those same numbers, I think we would consider Ridley as the better WR at this point in time.

This. If Kiffin was OC for Cooper's freshman and sophomore years he may have had outright insane career numbers.

Coop was much younger than Ridley as a freshman.

That has to be taken into consideration.

True, but their measureables are very similar at this point in Ridley's freshman season. I discount age to an extent, because of their physical attributes and their newness in the system.

Also worth noting that while I believe Ridley is going to become a great route runner, no one in CFB is on Coop's level at that IMO.

True, Coop is the best route runner I have ever seen. I believe Ridley is faster and could possibly have better hands.

Ridley kind of reminds me of Cooper after he catches the ball. He had one play in particular last night where he did this juke/head fake thing while running, that Cooper used to do all the time.

All young WRs should meticulously study Amari Cooper.

Coop is the best WR in Bama history so it's a tough comparison. Also remember that Coop came in in January and Ridley the summer right? Coop is the better route runner but I think Ridley is every bit as fast and maybe a bit taller. At this point I think it's safe to say that Ridley is in the same ballpark talent wise as Coop and Julio...we will see if he maximizes his talent the next couple of years like those guys did. He does seem to have "it" though.

I dunno about the OPs question, but the route that Ridley ran on his TD was very reminiscent of Cooper.

Ridley will be great like Coop once he has all the exp Coop has. Though I think we're selling Coop a little short here....HE WAS EASILY ONE OF THE BEST COLLEGE RECEIVERS I'VE SEEN IN LIKEEEEEEEE SO LONG...OMG.

We should revisit this at the end of the year, but it isn't a crazy thing to say at all. Remember, Cooper didn't play that much at the beginning of 2012.
