When my wife asks "wtf is he doing" after just walking by and glancing at something other than some rachet TV show, you have done something monumentally stupid.

While I agree it was a dumb decision on his part, I can understand why he did it. He was trying to avoid the possibility of a fumble.

whoever did that should never play ST again. We were not getting the kickoff past the 20 so i dont understand why we were not taking a knee

then his sorry arse should not be back there and at a minimum take a knee in the end zone

Agreed. He had a momentary lapse in judgement even though he probably thought he was doing the smart thing.

None..we got BW. I really think he "uncoaches" the guys so he can tell Saban how may bad habits the players have and coach must believe it therefore keeping his postion on the staff.

IMHO, he saw he was about to get blown up and he took the easy way out. Weak. Shaking my head.

Actually it was not a bad play. All other players were close to the line expecting the onside kick - he had zero blockers and facing pretty much 10 guys coming full speed at him.

Rather see him do that than fumble it.

My only thing is that maybe he never should have taken out of the end zone, or just let it go out the back.

From what I recall, that kick was in the end zone. If that is correct, there is no way to defend him taking the ball out if the end zone. He had no blockers. Everyone was protecting against an onside kick. So it was a bonehead play to run out of the end zone and then take a knee. It was stupid. Maybe I am wrong and the kick landed at the one yard line, then it is the correct move to do what he did. But it was a mental error. It was really stupid to cost your team field position. It was really dumb. Please don't defend a dumb decision. Blame the coach if u want, but our guy should know the situation.

After what Christion Jones did during the opening kickoff of the Ohio State game, I am convinced special teams practice consists of Bobby Williams taking everyone to the film room and smoking the ganja.

He brought the ball out not realizing we were in on-side kick formation then when he realized it, he in an act of self preservation instantly took a knee. Saban was not happy and let him know it. He killed any chance of a fruitful drive by Bateman.

Chris Black just isn't a very good player. He has never really done anything and he's a 4th year junior. A summer transfer beat him out for the starting slot position, and hopefully someone will beat him out next year. He just isn't very good.

Actually, it was a bad play. And a stupid play. And a cowardly play.

This is somewhat a dishonest statement, hes been hurt and had some pretty gruesome injuries in his career here that have kept him off the field. As far as the topic of this thread, it was dumb to bring it out, but in a game that is pretty much under control, and with his history of injuries, I dont think taking a knee there was a bad decision. Saved himself a meaningless hit, and kept the football secure.
