I ask this question once a year, so it's that time again. Just for fun of course.

How would you rank the Bama teams, overall, from 2008 to now?

Best three defenses were 2011, 2015, and 2016 (which was the best, who knows).

Last year (would be top if they'd beat Clemson)
2009 (personal favorite)

As for best defense, I will go with the 16 defense. I think 16 was better then 15. I don't think the 11 defense would hold up too well against the offenses run today and I think the 16 defense would still dominate offenses run in 11.

It depends on how you're ranking them. I think the best team in its time is 2011, but if you matched the 2016 team up against 2011, the 2016 team would win because its offensive style is what caused Saban to reinvent the defense.

09 - UFs offense was as dangerous as Clemsons, IMO, and that team didnt have to hang on to win cause it straight made plays when they had to.

Florida's 09 offense struggled throughout most of the 09 season and never reached its full potential.

Florida's 08 offense is much more comparable to Clemson's offense last year.

2009's team was absolutely LOADED. Had a pretty tough schedule and great players at about every position.

Pointless from my perspective. I will give you a list of my favorite teams instead.

1. 2016 Despite a second place finish this team is by far my favorite. Had it not been for having to start a true freshman at quarterback it would have been the best team in college football history. It was almost that good anyway.

2. 2011 Despite the one loss this team was the definition of dominant and winning it all in New Orleans against a cocky LSU was just perfection in my book.

3. 2008 The year Bama made a statement that we were back and bigger and badder than ever.

Every other team was fun too and I have had the privilege of adding a few players to my all time favorite list.

Blake Sims
Javier Arenas
Jonathan Allen
Amari Cooper

I for one have taken none of this era for granted. It will end in a few years whether Saban retires or tries to coach like JoePa.

1. 2009 - Winning them all counts for a lot. This team got it done every week. All the talent of the other teams and they couldn't accomplish this.

2. 2012 - '11 Defense might have been better, but this team was more explosive.

3. 2015 - This team seemed to only hit it's stride the last few games of the year, thankfully when the counted most.

4. 2011 - Difference between this team and '12 is razor thin to me. No SEC title though, so the '12 and '15 teams go above.

5. 2016 - Best of the non-championship team, so damn close to being #1 on this list.

6. 2014 - I know a lot of people are down on this team, they were the closest to a title of the remaining teams. Winning the SEC, to me, gets them above the others as well.

7. 2013 - Would have been a close one with FSU had the kick 6 not happened. No SEC title, this team has to go down the list

8. 2008 - For an upstart this team was impressive. I can put them last because of how they got the run started.

9. 2010 - Insanely talented, but too young and didn't know how to sustain success.

112-13 - I can't believe the run has been this good. Averaging 11 win a year for nearly a decade; this really is the golden age.

Favorite seasons for me personally(they've all been fun)

2011
2012
2009
2015
2016
2008
2014
2010
2013

I feel bad ranking any of the championship teams below another because they were all so incredible, and it's hard to choose between 14 and 16.

I still have a hard time believing that team lost three games. It was stacked!

One of my favorites. The eye opening arse whippings. Making their arse quit. Etc.

But getting our arse kicked by Utah? That's gotta count for something too.

I'll stick with 09. As others have said that defense would bend to the point of a key turnover. Halfway through the season, I started expecting turnovers. That team played angry, mean, and smart all at once. That offensive line just mauled teams at will too. It lacked some of the other teams in talent, but more than made up for that with "it".

The 2011 team is the greatest team in UA history.

Despite the regular season loss, their smallest margin of victory was 16 points.
