Without belaboring the point of our poor OL play which has been discussed adnauseum, does anyone else get the feeling that we could have really used Eddie Lacy last week. I wonder if having a power back like him would have helped our running game. While I think Yeldon is a very talented back, I think Eddie Lacy who was overshadowed by Ingram and Richardson will prove to be one of the best rb at Alabama. I think with him back this year our running game would be better despite OL woes. Does anyone else feel that way like Yeldon just isn't quite ready yet to be the feature back. He lacks that fire that players like EL and DJ Fluker had. Eddie ran the ball like he was angry all the time.

Running game starts with OL.

Ingram, Lacy and Trent could all be back and the running game would not be better than last year if the OL doesn't improve.

He's ready, even with suspect OL play, he had 4.4ypc. All three of the previous backs had multiple games that would rate worse than Yeldon's game Sat.

It's a futile discussion. Yeldon isn't the yards after contact back that Ingram, Richardson, and Lacy was, but he's more than enough and most teams would kill to have him.

Henry and Tenpenny fit that mold more so than Yeldon, and their futures are bright.

EL was a special back. I THINK between he and Trent he may have the better NFL career which I realize is in part due to who they play for.

No. We could've had Adrian Peterson at RB and still would've struggled.

There wasn't a single point Saturday night where I said to myself, "self, I bet Eddie Lacy would have run over that DT who hit him half a second after he got the football." And there were about a dozen instances where I could have. Yet, it never happened. Shocking.

Nope, the OL wasn't horrible but it wasn't what we've come to expect either. There wasn't a ton of push at all and way too many defenders in the backfield. Yeldon will be fine.

TJ is more than fine. No RB in football right now is going to do very good when he's getting hit way behind the LOS almost all the time.

Fair enough. I just felt like when Lacy ran hard it seems to motivate.those guys, maybe not but we certainly seem to miss a vocal leader like Fluker. They semd lost and noone stepped up to take over and get them working together.

It was weird, if anything. Watching the game again only confirms that we were very conservative with the playcalling. Not just after the OL got blown up, it was that way at the start. AJ didn't make a of checks at the line either, which is something he'd do unless there was a reason not to. We'll see the offense do what they were supposed to do when we roll into College Station.

Lacy would not have made a difference.

If we can get Yeldon and Fowler to the line without having to dodge people in the backfield, they'll do just fine.

Yeldon is a great back and if we had a better OL, then this wouldn't be an issue. That said, he is not the kind of back that Ingram, Richardson, or Lacy were. He's not going to roll over people or break through tackles like they did. It took more than one player to bring those guys down. Yeldon is a different back. He was a great complement to Lacy. I'd feel much better about things if Fowler would get back to 100% or if one of the freshmen would rise to the occasion. We need a back who can hammer out those 2-3 yards.

Yeldon is pretty good at breaking tackles IMO. Not much you can do though when you break 1 tackle and there's another defender right there waiting for you.

He is, but he's not going to throw people off of him like Eddie or Trent did.

I dont feel like that way at all. TJ is a beast and will do great as the feature back. Are you saying this because he was hit immediately every time he touched the ball? Newsflash: Lacy probably wouldnt have even gained 75 yards the other night.

TJ is one of the best RBs in the nation. Ive never seen a fanbase freak out this much over a 35-10 win and one single lackluster offensive performance. Unbelievable.

IMO a smaller faster shiftier back would have been the best option in that game, somebody who could hit the hole alot faster and get to the edge a lot faster...Dee Hart would have made a bigger impact imo.
