CNS never has really had two QB's ready to play anywhere he's been. Even when he's had two capable guys, the majority of the year he only played one. It hurts recruiting and player development. It's an NFL mindset.

With all the top recruiting classes we've had he should have at least 2 more national titles, maybe more.

He's had 1 undefeated season in his entire career, 2009 at BAMA.

Is the fact that he even played as a freshman due to the fact that, Sims and Coker not withstanding, we haven't really developed QBs? How many other highly rated QBs have we signed the last few years that could have started this year had that been developed?

There will always be the comparisons between Bryant and Saban. Starting about 1973, Bryant always seemed to run his back up QB out there about every third series. That's one reason why, in 1979, we went undefeated with a new starting QB. He was a new starter, but he was a 3rd year veteran in terms of big game action.

We've won 3 national championships in the last 8 yeaes with a new starting QB.

We've won 3 straight SEC championships, each with a new starting QB.

And he didn't have to win 15 games, including an extra SEC game against a solid opponent and 2 more games against Top 4 teams.

How many more should we have won?

Why can't we develop QB's better? Why do we have to break in a new one just about every year?

I would say that McCarron was pretty well developed. In fact, considering that Blake Sims was a career utility player and Coker was a career backup, it was probably a pretty good job by Kiffin to develop them into SEC title winners, ncaa title contenders, and record breaking offenses.

So in retrospect, considering the number of wins, number of titles, and number of offensive record breaking seasons, Saban's coordinators and qb coaches must have been pretty good at developing and scheming around the abilities of the qbs.

Looking ahead, Sarkisian, not Kiffin, was the qb coach for those great USC teams, so I hope he's even better at developing qbs. We'll see about that, though realistically, this may be the best Hurts ever is, regardless who is coaching him. I don't think that's the case, I just know that's a possibility. I am cautiously optimistic.

During 2014 and 2015 seasons the games were to close to give the backup reps. It was win now or win later. We made it to the playoffs both of those years , won the sec twice, and a natty. Oh yea those years really burned it this year /s

Holy shite who let the Bammer in here.

Hurts was a freshman and I don't care how much practice and playing time he had, he was still a true freshman.

Have we really reached the point where people are unhappy with Sabans development of players?

The kid will probably improve. If not, next year we may lose two games.
