Based on what? High school and one good run at A-Day?

Exactly. Maybe you should watch his high school tape. Over 3000 yds on a bum knee. A couple of services rated him the overall number 1 player in America and it isn't because he might be elite one day. He is elite right now. Guys like Najee Harris don't ride the pine even at a place like Alabama. Doubt him if you want to.....

He actually had 2,776 which is still great.

One of those two went bankrupt and was bought for pennies. The other has been terrible since Shannon Terry took all of their analysts and formed 247.

247 had him as the #9 ranked player overall and the #2 ranked running back.

ESPN had him as the #11 player overall and the #2 RB as well.

He wasn't even the #1 RB in the final Composite rankings. Cam Akers was.

Most guys don't have the absurd depth ahead of them like Harris does now. I think his ceiling is going to be about 600 yards. That's not bad given the talent in front of him.

Harris is not a generational talent like Bo and Herschel. That doesn't mean he won't be great though.

If he has 600 yards, then I would be amazed.

It would be on par with the majority of the freshmen RBs we've had under Saban.

Yeldon is obviously the outlier, but that may have been more due to the line he ran behind.

We have so many guys and each have a different style. I'm not sure if we even have a 1,000 yard back this year. We basically have a back for every situation.

I hate giving predictions because they usually come back to bite me in the arse, but I think it could end up like this:

Harris - 1,000
Bo - 1,000
Jacobs - 500
Najee - 300
Emmons - 300

That would give us 3,100 yards rushing on the season.

Don't forget about Hurts. I image, he will have at least over 200

I thought about him and my HOPE is that he won't have to run nearly as much as he did last year.

If his deep ball has truly improved to a consistent level like the ones we saw last month he won't need to run as much.

I'd be happy with him getting around 500 yards.

I really thought, with the emphasis being placed on staying in the pocket, that 200-300 might be his limit. 500 would be great, especially if his downfield passing has improved.

I'd like to just see balance.

Make teams respect both the rushing and passing attack.

I'd hate to turn into LSU.

I have a feeling LSU fans are going to have a rough year. If Guice gets hurt, they are really screwed.

If they lose to BYU the natives are going to murder Joe Alleva.

If BYU beats them, this place will be great.

It was amazing when they lost to Wisconsin. I didn't even see that coming, and they talked so much shite in the offseason about their returning starters.

It's possible, but it'd be unprecedented under Saban. Yeldon is the only back to break 1000 in his freshman year at Bama, and he only had Lacy in front of him. Najee has at least three, possibly four backs ahead of him right now.

It wouldn't be unprecedented. Yeldon had over 1000 playing second string with a future NFL starter ahead of him. Najee has one potential NFL starter ahead of him in Bo, and Bo has never held up over an entire season.
So combine that with the fact that Najee has shown to be extremely durable in high school, the fact that he's an every-down style big back with 5-star measurables and speed. It doesn't sound too crazy for him to be our go-to at some point this season.
You're totally making an assumption that all these guys are ahead of him just because of seniority. I think he's our number 2 guy right now alongside Damien with an "OR"

Jacobs- 550 (I think he gets more involved in the passing game this year)

Bo- 1100
Harris- 750
Najee- 400
Hurts- 800

BJ Emmons was also the #1 ranked RB by a recruiting service and the 3-star you keep forgetting about got more playing time than him.

The other guy you are forgetting about just had a 1,000 yard season and was also ranked as the #1 RB in the country by a recruiting service.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Najee Harris isn't nearly as good as you think he is. Like I said above, he's not a generational talent like Bo or Hershel.

How do we know these things? It isn't likely that any running back in the college ranks will be as good as Herschel Walker, but other than that (even that), it's all subjective.

Because he's not.

That's an objective statement. Your contention is simply conjecture. The other guy's opinion is as valid as your own, and in fact, he may be closer to being right than you are. We don't really yet know.
