On Alabama from sources close to the program:
- Race for starting job continues to be close. Basically the battle is between Bateman, Barnett, and Hurts.
- Bo has been looking "real good". Damien Harris has immersed himself in the playbook and absorbed the offense. BJ Emmons has looked the part too. Media guide has listed him at 206 but his weight is more than that. Walk-on Derrick Gore has looked good too.
- Robert Foster is "pretty much" at full health right now.
- Someone asked is Gehrig Dieter legit? "Oh god, yeah, he's legit. Like legit legit." Raheem Falkins and Trevon Diggs have also stood out.
- O.J. Howard is gonna be a better weapon
this year.
- Cam Robinson will be the starting left tackle for the opener. Alphonse Taylor return may not come quite as fast
- Freshmen will play big roles. Jonah Williams will start somewhere along the offensive line. Then there is Shyheim Carter, who has a chance to start at Star. Lyndell Wilson and Ben Davis have stood out and been "killer." Redshirt seasons still likely though.
- Dalvin Tomlinson has emerged as a leader on the defensive line and is the "head honcho" up front. Raekwon Davis has stood out since enrolling.
- Da'Shawn Hand is going to have a big season
- Reuben Foster has taken a major step forward as a leader.
- Younger defensive backs have seen more reps come their way in guys like Kendall Sheffield and Deionte Thompson. Shyheim Carter as well
- Anthony Averett and Hootie Jones could also fill voids in the secondary with two spots still vacant. Jones could have a versatile role like Maurice Smith has had in the past. Averett is one of the fastest players on the field but has struggled at times during 7-on-7s.
- Maurice Smith wants to go to Georgia, but it's not that simple with them being in the SEC. The situation continues to be a confusing one and one that does not seem to be gaining any traction.

Not completely accurate

he wasn't a starter at spring, still won't be. There are two better than him in Bozeman and Kennedy.

He is the Right Tackle

No he doesn't at all, that's nickel and Fitz is absolutely keeping that spot. AA is likely taking the other corner position baring any major setbacks. He is competing with 6 other people for Dime/Money.

Raheem Falkins
Has a poor attitude may not play much

I'm really hoping the oline can pull it together and be a force this year. Last years was good, but still not what we're used to seeing. They still had issues in pass protection and short yardage situations. I miss the lines from 08-09, 11-12.

Boz what is the story on Ro Foster?

His shoulder isn't 100% possible nerve damage. He is getting there but still is taking it easy. They starter an alternative treatment. That was as of 20 July.

I just hope we figure out how to limit the plays where the back has to dodge somebody as soon as they get the hand off. If we can just limit penetration by the DL, our backs should be good enough to get yardage in chunks.

Bozeman isn't starting, probably the least talented OL on the roster.

this one is interesting to me. Thought Wilson was going through some surgeries. Also, didn't expect Davis to redshirt.

sounds like he's developed into the LB everyone thought he would be coming out of HS. Good example of why fans shouldn't give up on guys and label them busts if they don't blossom in their first two seasons on campus.

he struggles with plays hence he never started but he is the strongest OL on the team. My bet is on Kennedy to play for Shank.

Hate to hear that, guy is a real talent. As long as the joint is stable, it would be more of a pain management thing, right? He looked pretty good in the A-Day game running and catching.

Bozeman is obviously a strong and experienced player...glad to have him on this team even if he's the 6th man. Kennedy is young, and frankly was very unimpressive to me during A-Day. I'm still hoping Shank will get his crap together and have a decent year.

I think he will be fine with the new treatment. He has pain, shoulder seems stable. So from that standpoint it's a lifting motion problem of pain. I'm hearing he should be good for game 1, but any delay from this point forward would set him back.

If the joint is solid, a good cortisone shot before the game should do the trick.

What the heck does standing out mean??? IJS!!! Charlie posted that stuff which felt like one of the traditional BOL summer insider posts from years past.
I guess that's why he called it pre-camp insider notes, LOL.

Is Daylon Charlot set to contribute any this season? Who will be returning kick offs and punts?
Posted on 7/28/16 at 10:09 am to leftshark49
Xavian Marks was the one returning kickoffs in the Spring. I think Ridley was returning punts. Or it could be the other way around, can't remember

Correct. Ridley returning punts scares me, but I trust the coaches. Looking forward to seeing what Marks has.
