Perspectives from an OU Fan

Hey guys, I'm excited about our bowl matchup with y'all. Alabama fans are a lot like Oklahoma fans, as our programs are two of the most storied in the nation.
I am expecting a loss in this game to be completely honest. I believe Alabama is still the best team in the nation. Our team wasn't supposed to be 10-2 this year on a year where we were replacing 7 defensive starters and Landry Jones. But here we are...
If you haven't watched OU football much this season, I'm just gonna post a few notes about our team:
As of now, I have no idea who our starting QB is gonna be in this game. Blake Bell has played very inconsistently all season and really shouldn't be a starting QB for a major D1 team. Trevor Knight, a RS Freshman started for us against OSU but injured his shoulder and was unable to return. If Knight is healthy, he will start. He provides mobility for us, although he seems a little fragile. The performance of our QB's will be key for us in this game.
On defense, OU has been littered with injuries including season ending injuries to our Captain, LB Corey Nelson as well as our starting DT Jordan Phillips. However, our defense has been a positive surprise as it has been anchored by Senior CB Aaron Colvin and this monster, Charles Tapper at DE. We have played a 3-4 all season and it has been fairly successful. However, y'all should be able to gash us through running the ball similar to the way Texas did.
I am too young to remember our series in 02/03 (I'm 20). However, I have heard it was exciting and I am looking forward to a rematch. See y'all in New Orleans

Thanks for the info. Here's to a hard-fought, injury free game.

Thanks for the insight...
I follow OU every now and than because of some personal family connections with a former coach. I was expecting big things from Bell because of the "Bell-Dozer" hype but that died down. Can you tell me what advantage OU might have over Bama on the field, in your opinion? (i.e OU WR vs. Bama CBs, etc..)

Thanks. OU is one of the programs besides Bama that I've always liked. Should be a good game

Kicker for sure
Also, one name you should know is Sterling Shepard. He is our slot receiver and creates mismatches if LB's try to cover him.
And then there is our WR/PR, Jalen Saunders who has been electric with the ball in his hands this year. He had a great game against OSU and pretty much won the game for us. Our WR's are gonna be a non-factor though if we don't find a way to get them the ball.
We have talent at RB, with SR Brennan Clay & Roy Finch. We did have Damien Williams as well as a co-starter with Clay, but he was recently released from the team. Clay is the every down back and Finch will be used as the scat back. My guess is Stoops will try to pound the ball because of the lack of an arm of either of our QB's. So the performance in our Oline and Clay will be huge as well. I don't expect much success going against Bama's front 7 however

I know several Bama fans are still distraught over losing to AU and not being in National Championship, but i'm looking forward to this game. Should be fun in NOLA.

I remember those Tyler watts and Herschel bolden effup games against Oklahoma. I want some payback. Surely I am not the only one.

Good stuff and thanks. With that said, I hope the Boomer Sooner defense gets to meet Mr. Derrick Henry....all 6'3, 245 lbs of him when he totes the rock.

I've been waiting for Jaz Reynolds to become elite since 2011, but what has happened to him?

I was really high on Durron Neal as a prospect. I was pissed when he committed to OU

He has the talent to be special. He was suspended for all of last season for behavior issues and has struggled to make an impact this season, probably due in part because of the inability of our QB's.

I personally can't wait. I was born in OKC, and I have family still in Oklahoma. I've been following OU football all my life. When I got Bama I was hoping for this matchup.

Thanks for the info!
I've always felt the OU and UA programs were very similar and I have always respected y'all.
I do have a bone to pick with Stoops and his mouthing off about the SEC, but I have nothing but goodwill towards the OU players and fans.
Stoops on the other hand .....
