New census: Tuscaloosa adds a little over 1200, and sits just under 100k. That means we've grown 10.2% since 2010- more than any of the biggest cities in Alabama.

OT, but Huntsville now the 3rd largest city in Alabama, and on pace to be the largest city (population wise) in Alabama. Birmingham of course didn't see an increase, despite its recent surge in development and downtown revitalization.

Really wish Tuscaloosa would improve its gateways when you enter downtown.

Essentially the entrances to downtown. Coming down 359 off of I-20, there's no real "you've arrived" type of feeling when you enter downtown. Only really till you hit university blvd do you feel like you're finally "there", if that makes sense. JMO though.

I love the new bridge plan for I-20/59.

Ok. I know what you mean. I really like how San Diego lets you know which area you are in.

Saw a plan set a month or two ago for 69 through downtown. Adding some turn lanes, etc. But it doesn't really address what you're talking about.

I need to take a good look at the plans when I get back to work.

Central Mesaa, a new authentic Mexican restaurant, is set to open soon downtown. It's also owned by the same guy who owns Avenue Pub, so that shite is definitely going to be good.

It seems that Stan Pate (developer) is coordinating a multi-govt effort to streamline traffic flow coming into town from all the major roads involved...building overpasses, adding lanes, better signage, etc.....some very interesting ideas.

If can find a way to attract some more white collar jobs to the down town area, Tuscaloosa would be set. 500 or more good paying jobs down town would make things even better.

That would be good. Maybe a good tech company will come out there. But we really need to capitalize on adding additional fiber optic networks.

Downtown has made tremendous strides over the years, but it really does need something to attract young professionals and make other parts of downtown a more vibrant place.

That is a great location for the event. This event sucked after leaving the amphitheater. Hopefully, it will return to greatness this year.

Yeah I went last year at Sokol Park, and it was hot as shite. Pretty fun, but too wide open. Having it here will be great. Lot of great beer.

I haven't yet, but would like to soon. 50 cent wings on Mondays so I'll probably hit that up.

I went Thursday night. It was pretty nice. Really didn't like the beer selection though. Food was solid

Don Staley, former UA soccer coach and executive director at Foley sports tourism, is now the new CEO and president for the Tuscaloosa Sports Tourism! He did a lot of great things in Foley, so this is awesome.

Good interview with Gary Harris yesterday.
