Yes. It's supposed to be demolished and be set for 5 or 6 new retail stores.

The city should just buy that lot in the middle of Timerson Square and build a small parking deck and charge like $3 to park. That will bring in revenue and give people more places to park and encouraging people to visit the down town area. It would cost only a few million and in the long run would benefit the city as a whole. Problem solved.

Have any of you been to the Green Bar? They've quietly had some good shows there and are bringing in a good one I like called Opposite Box. Never been, but some friends say it's one of the best bars in Tuscaloosa.

Btw, they just started that road work on University blvd, so either go through the university or Paul Bryant Dr.

I've been. I actually like it. Its a hipster type bar, but it is a nice change of pace and some very interesting people frequent there.

Okay, I might go then. I saw the CrimsonWhite write a story about it and it supposedly being the "freshman and sophomore" bar, so I didn't want to go. But I didn't know they had live music and stuff, so hell yeah.

Saw that the "Live at Plaza" is returning again for the 2nd straight year. Every Friday, live music. And you can bring your own booze and chill. Then afterwards, head straight to Inisfree.

I know we all love Druid City Brewing. Here's a really awesome story about our main guy, Bo Hicks, who has really helped transform Tuscaloosa.

Festival aims to become Memorial Day tradition

quote:

In his long-running hankering to make Tuscaloosa cooler, Bo Hicks has created, driven and supported numerous concerts, beer festivals, movie showings, theatrical endeavors, video-game tournaments and much more. Chances are, even if he didn't spark the event, his name will be somewhere on the sponsor list.

A new Hicks-piration crops up Saturday, with the first of what he and his co-owners and co-workers at Druid City Brewing Co. hope is a long line of shows: the first Druid City Brewing Crawfish and Beer Festival, a 3.5-Year Anniversary.

Live at Plaza is starting this Friday. Live music and BYOB every Friday through June and July, starting at 6-9 p.m.

Also, CBDB is coming back to Druid City. The Tuscaloosa-based jam band is growing.

You can officially get your growler filled at Druid City and other breweries in town. It's a big day for breweries across the state.

I'm looking forward to getting a growler of lamplighter IPA on the way home from work now.

Huge news for the craft beer and bar scene!

World of Beer coming to Tuscaloosa

quote:

World of Beer has leased 5,000 square feet at 2107 and 2109 University Blvd., in Tuscaloosa, and should open in early October, according to Justin Toomey of Stirling Properties, who represented the craft beer tavern chain."

It's a really great hangout in Birmingham.

It's okay. The service at the one in Birmingham leaves a lot to be desired. I've only been twice, and the service was bad both times.

I frequented Green Bar often in college. Many of my friends played there. On Wednesdays Wilhagens had 2 dollar premium drafts(or something like that) and Green Bar would have open mic night, my friends and I would go between the two because they are ran by the same people.
