AG,s @ss won't be hot until next season. With everyone back but Steele, success will be a MUST for his future at UA.

But seriously, why does this thread get bumped during a loss to Florida? We were 17 point underdogs.

Pretty sure it was bumped at the beginning of the game. Still not exactly warranted though.

Grant won't be fired until next year but the writing is on the wall. The program hasn't progressed at all under Grant. There's zero energy with this program and being a bubble team every year isn't what we're paying him for.

Exactly. He may win 20 games a year, but is that really enough if you are nowhere near competing (at the very least) for a title / championship?

I mean, Shula won games . . .

No, its not enough. I'm not saying we need to be an Elite 8 team every year but what's the point of worrying about if we're going to the tourney every year if we all know that we'll just lose in the first round? And I hate this notion that this is the best we can do because it isn't.

I really want Grant to succeed, but he's got a huge mountain to climb. He'll go into next season with an apathetic fanbase that would love to support him but he's giving them no reason to. Everyone automatically thinks we'll be a tournment team next year but if we struggle early like we always seem to under Grant, it could snowball on him.

Exactly how I feel. He should and will get next year, but if he wants to be here the following year, he has to get it done. Just squeaking into the NCAAT next year isn't enough IMO, even though it probably does save him his job.

Anything less than a Sweet 16 next year should probably cost him his job. Preferably as a 4 or 5 seed instead of a bubble team that gets hot at the right time.

That's pretty much my line of thinking.

I'd be more surprised by a sweet 16 in basketball than I would be if football threepeated next year.

Even if he has to sell his soul to the devil, he has to find a big man that can play. Guye has to be the worst big to ever step on a court for Alabama. 7 foot but I have yet to see him dunk.

That's stretching it. While he is completely inept on offense, he is usually a very solid post defender. He's actually second in the SEC in blocks from what the commentator said last night and he only plays 16 mpg. He has also just about shutdown every offensive post threat he's played this year. He's useless on the offensive end, but he still is a very solid player defensively. If we could somehow get him to keep his pivot foot down in the post and go up strong on the 2 footer put-backs and dump-offs, he'll be a pretty good big man for us next year.

Yeah, I might have given way to a little hyperbole there. But I have never seen a 7 footer get his shot blocked so much or lose rebounds so much. He does block some shots but he gets in foul trouble easy too it seems like(I have not looked at any numbers, just seems that way).

Yea he's definitely challenged on the offensive end. I still like him playing over Jacobs, though Jacobs did have a good game against OM. I've never seen a collegiate player look as uncoordinated trying to grab a rebound as Jacobs does. He's 6'7" at most. You aren't supposed to have that many problems with coordination at that height.

I can't get over how poorly Pollard has looked. Had high hopes for him. Obasehan(sp) has been a pleasant surprise. I really like his game.

Long time “board reader” I love come to read you guys post and so on and so on... but this is my first post thanks to whomever for allowing me to post here...but to me AG has done a pretty decent job its not his fault guys can’t hit wide open jump shots and we go on 3-5 min droughts. If we don’t have a high profile coach lined up in waiting I see no reason to be so anxious to fire AG...levi randolph is underperforming he can’t hit the side of a barn, college 4* recruits can’t hit free throws...Pollard is the worst 5* recruit I have seen...M. Guye was a 4* recruit he can’t stop fouling...Nick Jacobs can’t rebound can’t go the opposite way...Lacy is so streaky...the only player that brings it and plays with heart is releford...with the talent AG has, he has done a good job its not his fault guys can’t hit wide open shots...this bama team is one big man away from being a contender I’m not ready to give up on AG not unless a rick patino, coach cal, greg pop etc coming knocking on the door
