Yeah, I'm sure Tua will be the bestest next year.

Since Hurts is out, I guess I am #TeamBarnett

I don't want to best WR crew (Ridley, Foster, Stewart, Howard) we've had under Saban to be wasted. Please Blake Barnett take this job! Cooper Batemans arm takes away our advantage at WR

PRE-MELT ON TUA NOT STARTING IN 2017

I know this is going to sound like BAMMERSUNSHINEPUMP, but we won a national championship with Greg McElroy's noodle arm. I feel like we can figure things out with Bateman as long as he accepts and excels in the age old traditional "game manager" job.

Still, I'd prefer Barnett to nut up and take the job.

I really hope that Hurts gets better as the season goes and soon because from what I've seen and heard throughout this offseason I don't trust Bateman in the slightest, but I sure hope he succeeds though because if he start doing what he has been doin in practice in live games, the board will go in anarchy lol

Everyone melting over the QB, yet we will have probably the best defense in the nation again with an amazing punter

Bozeman's move to center concerns me. Was Ross not playing well there? This seems like a very late move.

I bet this has much less to do with Ross performing poorly than we're a better unit of 5 with Ross at RG and Bozeman at C. Remember, Saban said in spring that we were low on folks who could play guard.

The only reason why I'm melting so hard over this, because I would prefer a QB with great arm talent to take advantage of the WR corp we have and out of every QB, I personally believe Bateman has the worst arm talent. Nonetheless I hope he gets everything together as I still want the guy to succeed.

AJ McCarron DID NOT look as bad as Bateman during his mop up duties lol. Stop it now, that's ridiculous.

The ridiculous thing is thinking Bateman played horribly. He had a higher completion percentage than Coker in every game while the race was still going on, and his lone pick against Ole Miss was definitely Stewart's fault.

Bateman did not set the world on fire by any stretch, but he also did not play in the same universe as bad.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND, that was last year. Why would anyone assume any player on our team is the same as last year? Have we stopped developing our players? Did I miss that memo?

That's what he was hinting at when he talked about all the WR's we have and the need to get them the ball. And, that's what he was hinting at when he mentioned Rohan Davie sucking in practice but being great in games. He's hoping Barnett is like that.

My thoughts exactly when I listened to the presser. But I've been a #TeamBB8 dude all along, so I thought I was biased listening.

While he has the least arm talent of the 3, Bateman can make most of the throws very accurately. You are acting like he doesn't have any upper appendages.

I hope his decisions are quicker than what they were vs Wisconsin

Skip to 1:45. He checks it down way too early with a receiver open.

This thread will be gold all season.

Especially if we lose a game.

Me too.

Barnett.

I'm not buying into the naysayers. I think Saban is giving him the "let's see how you handle adversity summer treatment", like he did AJ.

The simple answer is that there's a group of posters on this board who have decided he sucks and simply won't accept any other possible outcome.

The turnover-prone QB in scrimmages has been Barnett, and yet they're melting over Bateman still being in the mix. Pretty sad.

He also hit an Auburn LB right square in the hands with another one and it appears Stewart ran the wrong route on the pick Bateman threw against OM.

That's really my point. Just as with AJ in 2010, Bateman's 2015 work wasn't enough to make any real determination about his long term ability.

If Hurts is sitting simply because he is a freshman when he has been the best option reported by literally everyone who has been to scrimmage and practice?

Doubtful. Saban probably gave a big clue into the decision when he talked about the "little" things like getting the RB on the correct side of the formation. It's possible that Hurts is behind on things like that, like when to re-route motion, reads on certain passing plays - whether high/low or left/right. His talent is there. Once he catches up on the playbook knowledge and the subtleties, I'm sure we will see him in 2016 - probably starting at some point.

I wouldn't even be surprised if he transfers. In the back of his mind he may think even when Bateman goes Barnett will always be ahead of him

It may have been a shock to some of us that he wasn't named one of the two that the staff is getting ready for "this game", but I'm sure this isn't the first Hurts has heard of it. He knows where he stands and what he needs to do better than anyone of us do.
