Coker starts first game of season, Bateman starts Ole Miss. That right there is the proof

No, that's not the proof of what you are trying to argue. That's a case that supports your angle, but its not proof.

I haven't heard a definitive reason for Bateman starting. Maybe it was because he was supposed to be more mobile. Maybe he just had a good week of practice. But in my opinion, last year and this year are completely different in the way the QB comp is being handled.

Saban just will never start the younger player, he always starts the upperclassman.

He's started plenty of true freshmen over upperclassmen at other positions, but QB is a different animal. Unlike other positions, the QB is touching the ball every play, as well as being the perceived leader of the offense. Being the starting QB for the #1 team in the nation, as well as being the starting QB for one of college football's blue bloods, comes with a pressure I can't imagine...

If Saban proclaims Hurts as the starter, especially with the game still a week and a half out, the media will be in a feeding frenzy and that pressure intensifies exponentially. And if Hurts starts the first game against USC, and he doesn't perform well off the bat, then his confidence could take a huge hit and might take a while for a freshman to recover. By starting Bateman, and then bringing along Hurts, the pressure on Hurts is relieved somewhat...at least that's my line of thinking...

Meh you'd have a point if MTSU didn't make Bateman look like shite too let alone Ole Miss. Spare me the completion percentage

Do you even understand he was still evaluating who was going to be the starter at that point?

That is an opinion, not a fact.

Word is that Coker had the flu and was running a fever for the Ole Miss game. I don't think that Bateman starting had anything to do with evaluation.

Blake Sims looked like "shite" for 4 years.

This kills your theory: Saban chose Bateman, talks about evaluation and starter selection AFTER Ole Miss

As I said, not an opinion it was a fact.

BTW what you're stating was a rumor, ironic you accuse me of not stating the facts yet that is precisely what you have done.

Saban specifically choose Bateman to give us an advantage, it just didn't workout because Bateman never ran the damn ball.

BTW, did you even ask yourself why Saban is using two QBs? If it isn't evaluation, then what other possible reason is there?

It was quite obvious he was still in the selection process as the link I provided has proven and it was that game which determind the final starter outcome.

It will be no different this year. I'm sure Bateman will underwhelm and Hurts will show out. Then you guys can come here and say you always knew that would happen. Lol

I was going to mention that Coker was not sick at all. Bateman had an extra ability which, he did not showcase.

They will just doubt you because they don't agree with what you said.

That is why I linked the article.

Definitive proof, straight from Saban that supports what you and I have been saying.

Blake Sims used to ball out in garbage time. He'd come in and just run read option with Drake. They'd score every game doing that. He did not look like shite for four years.

One slight correction. He was decidedly underwhelming throwing the ball - which was probably responsible for the "Simms can't throw a deep ball" mantra.

Other that that, you're right on. He and Drake made lots of people look really bad in trash time with that read option.

So apparently there a big stink going on between @RollBamaRoll, @TWEsq, and @TDAlabama over the latter's article on "breaking" that Hurts would start

Allegedly they ripped @TWEsq scrimmage tweets, and TD Alabama is threatening legal action for some reason.

I don't really know, trying to pick up on it myself.

Allegedly TD Alabama wrote that piece solely based off that guy's tweets(some of which were posted here). Guy is pissed about it, believe he writes for RollBamaRoll himself.

Now TD Alabama is threatening RBR with legal actions because of slander on their writer. Claims he has his own sources. There was an article on RollBamaRoll, but I get the 404 page when I try to open it.

It's a shite show

RollBamaRoll is saying TDAlabama's "scoop" that Hurts was going to be named the starter was lifted their reporter's tweets and reports from the spring game. They say they figured it out because the "scoop" included a couple of word-for-word errors their guy made in his initial reporting.

In the Hurts Megathread, OldPete linked to a story in RollBamaRoll that laid it all out but that story has apparently been pulled.

It appears to be a first class catfight.
