Really?

We can't get a guest picker who is at least recognizable and culturally relevant? I know getting someone who is a fan or associated with the school is too much to ask, but come on.

How many times in a row is it that Gameday's guest picker in Tuscaloosa is the most underwhelming of the year?

Tuesday WAS Veterans Day. It is now Friday. The weekend prior to Veterans Day was dedicated to honoring soldiers, sailors and airmen. I don't see the relevance.

And I know it's not that important, but can we not find one person with ties to the University or state to go on Gameday? Is that too much to ask?

Luttrell was speaking in Tuscaloosa, on the Friday after Veterans day, in Tuscaloosa, and the university is in Tuscaloosa.

Luttrell is a national hero. More people will pay attention to College Gameday , and therefore the University of Alabama, because of him. It is better than Clarissa Explains It All.

The day for honoring veterans is every day. I am not saying he should be the pick but we don't only honor veterans on veterans day. We honor them every day with every free breath we take. Just my two cents and I am a retired Marine and definately not the gung ho type.

I've read his book and watched the movie. He is a hero of mine. I for one am I'm glad he is picking the game.

Love the choice. Who would you have preferred? Melissa Joan Hart? Channing Tatum? Come on man, this is way better

I don't have anything against the guy. Glad he came out of a terrible situation alive. Glad he managed to parlay that into a successful book, movie and speaking career.

But he has no ties to the city, state or University, and that is what bothers me.

And yes, Channing Tatum would have been preferable.

To be honest, I could not give two fricks about who the guest picker is. Are you kidding me?

I guess it would matter if I watched College Gameday on ESPN.

My tv is on the SECN.

This hero is a better choice than any B-list celebrity ESPN would have trotted up there. Idc if he has no Bama ties, it will be a cool thing to watch.

I'd love to see the talk he gives the team.

I don't really care and won't be watching, but is there not a veteran with some ties to the state or university that they could have used? This is the first time I've heard of the guy.

I agree. Game Day seems to choose someone with non Alabama ties when it is in Tuscaloosa.

He is an American hero. Of course most dumb americans don't know who he is. People care more about shite that doesn't matter.

I'd rather have a hero like lutrell picking rather than any football player or bullshite celebrity.

Dude is a Texas guy... an Aggie married to an LSU fan.

Tell me again why he is making picks representing the University of Alabama?

He's not there to represent us. How can y'all still not figure this out?
