LSU fans feeling real chirpy in advance of our game

Talking about how much better they are, how this is their best team since 2007, how bama is overrated. They do this every year. They make bold claims and build up what they're going to do and it almost always works out the opposite way.
They never have accountability for those statements - until This Thread Last Year
I'm bookmarking for a similar thread this year. Is it petty? Prolly. Don't care. They do it to themselves.

When your girlfriend leaves you for another guy, hits it big and never looks back you do these kind of things.

Wow, there were a lot of pussies in that thread. And I remember how cocky they were last year. The rant was unbearable.
They'll probably do the same thing this year.

PS, don't expect them to be "accountable" for all their chest thumping this year, either. It's just what they do, as pathetic as it is.

They always get lippy around this time. It's inevitable.
I've learned in the past 3 days that Alabama doesn't have on corner on the team that can go toe-to-toe with their receivers, our linebackers are slow and won't be able to tackle Fournette, Hurts is scared of Death Valley, Etling is 10x the QB Saban will ever face at Alabama, and Dave Aranda is without a doubt the best DC in CFB and will coach circles around Kiffin.
Last year it was all about how Alabama's d-line was overrated and would be physically beaten up front by the mauling offensive line LSU had.
Every single year. I enjoy it. They set themselves up for disappointment and heartbreak.

Let's not forget that Coach O is now a genius and has LSU playing the best football ever and they are back in the playoff hunt.

Having said all this how do y'all think we'll do this week. I only caught a little bit of the ole miss game last week. Has LSU significantly improved since Miles left? Are we legitimately on upset alert?

The landfarts let LF run 70+ yards two or three times literally untouched... directly up the middle... not a finger.
Kelly threw 18 interceptions; LF ran for 750 yards, and Miss was still only behind 10 points late.
This game will look a good bit like last years game. I expect they wont roll over as easy in front of the drunks, but at some point we will get those close up "I give up" looks on the faces of the l6u players on the sideline.

quote:I was pretty shocked by that as well. He didn't do anything particularly special on those runs other than be fast (which is not insignificant). The blocking on those plays was really good which let him get to the end zone mostly untouched.

They best get it out their system before game time.

Im just ignoring the rant this year. I want to enjoy my bye week. Going to enjoy college football and wait until next week to worry about Bama. The season flys by too fast.

There is always going to be smack talk before the game. More so when playing bama, especially from in my opinion the younger crowd.
While coach O hasnt really added any ground breaking genius plays in the book, he has removed the lets win by not losing mind set. Seems to even be focusing on adjusting play calling to the abilities of the players.
LSU has been re energized the last few games and even though the teams werent top 5, they were actually fun to watch for a change.
That in itself gives hope which has been leading to the unbearable arrogance I think you were referring too. Gonna be a long week on the rant.

Not only were none top 5, they've beaten the powerhouses of 2-5 Mizzou, 4-3 Southern Miss, and 3-4 Ole Miss.
You can call it "re-engergized", I call it beating the shite out of bad teams.

MasterAg did a wonderful job of baiting the hook
Good Lord, I want to see the caterwauling if we win.

They actually pass the ball, so yes they have improved. I expect that to ease the running game for them compared to last year. Like the other poster said, this game will be similar to the last few. Very physical, with run heavy playcalling and a few passes to keep the Ds honest. Whichever QB makes the most mistakes, loses. It doesn't hurt our chances that they are salivating after beating up on bad teams...a lot like last year.

Brokenhearted, they will be.

Many LSU fans think that 2000-2007 is the norm. They think LSU is and should be a cut above Alabama. Since then, they are in relative shock about how we have surpassed them and started a streak. So every year when they start playing well, they think that it's just a given that order will be restored. When they lose, they can't handle it. That's why you see so much whining about Refs, REC, SEC Office in Bham, etc. They think that's the only reason we are winning.
LSU could very well beat us next week, but the LSU fans will always be chirpy before out game.

I guess I'm still in amazement over the whole Ed O dynamic. It seems a lot of LSU fans expect to win out, make the playoff in some miracle akin to 2007, and still bid him adieu for the coaching staff of their picking.
Either way he's an emotional coach. That works great in these situations. It worked at USC. But how far does that take them?
