Looking for a name and have gone blank - need your help

who is the kid out of tuscaloosa that became sort of a recruiting running joke b/c he was so incredibly talented, but he would never qualify? The joke used to be "so and so is getting in this year".
Been driving me crazy that I can't recall his name. Thanks in advance.

No. kid was from tuscaloosa (i think). There haven't been many Bama "locks" that have had trouble qualifying over the years. This guy was one over and over. He's become sort of mythical in nature and I've gone completely blank on him.
